I have Medicare, but also health care through the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. I'm lucky in ways many others are not. We truly need universal health care. Through my tribe, I have comprehensive care, dental, vision, mental health...
Just BTW, it's not only healthcare insurers who practice that fuckery. I worked on a lawsuit where the insurer paid the police to go after a hotelier for arson when one of his hotels burned down. Despite a lack 9f evidence (after a year of wiretapping his phone, they charged him. Then he couldn't/2
get insurance for his other two hotels, and had to sell. He died before Goldman Hine LLP won the case against the insurers and the OPP, but his widow was compensated. When lawyers beat the insurance companies, they try very hard to employ those lawyers.
Meanwhile, NYC police say they donβt have a motive for the shooting.
In all seriousness, I wonder if other health insurance CEOs have hired security since this happened. It would be interesting to see reporting on the rest of the industry and if this will have an effect on their denial rates.
CEOs in general seem jolted.
Musk appears to be particularly upset & posting about how important CEOs are to businesses. Musk seems worried about the lack of support he is receiving.
It would be nice if we could condemn Big Insurance like we do Big Pharma & other BIG PLUNDERERS & PILLAGERS without at the same time intimating, as so many post the past few days have, that murdering a given plunder & pillager is kinda-sorta OKAY. It's kinda like saying fuck the law, because it's us
They have rigged the legal system so that they win, they have bought enough politicians and media disinformation that real reform is basically impossible. What then should people do?
Apparently you didn't read what I wrote or else you are just not getting it. They have rigged the system so that "elect people who will fix it" is not a viable option.
I got my Reddit account permanently banned for saying that. The ceo and his company's policies have murdered or tortured countless innocent victims, all in the name of profit.
Deontologists saying violence is always bad need to grow up and pick an ethical framework that doesn't enable sociopaths.
Unfortunately if this is true and it has something to do with claims being denied, Americans because of MAGA, are taking their frustrations out in the only way MAGA knows, violence.
New Rule:
If a patient dies from a condition that the insurance company wonβt cover, the family is entitled to receive a refund for βallβ the premiums paid for the previous 10 years.
I agree 110%. Just surprised it took this long before someone snapped again like Patrick H. Sherrill in 1986. I mean we do outnumber these CEO asshats. I guess itβs the juggling the moral ramifications and life in prison that deters people still.
But I see those ways fading, and most likely the maga freaks will start turning on their owners when they wake up. That is an angry mob of stupidity, and those are very angry & dangerous people that seems to love violence
The saying 'kill one man, you're a murderer, kill many and you're a conqueror, kill them all and you're a god' can be rewritten to suit the times by substituting CEO for conqueror.
Do not condone, but congratulations to whoever thinks we have the greatest healthcare system in the world because you are obviously healthy enough to have never had to use it.
He wasnβt responsible for the way the policies were written or how the funding was distributed; he was just the face of the ones who do make the decisions & thatβs what no one is talking about. Itβs really sad in an irony way. Maybe the President Elect should come out & hold a speech about it..
Yes he was. That's what CEO means. Others are ALSO responsible. Saying he's not responsible is allowing them all to dodge accountability for corporate murder
While not usually writing the exact policy language, CEOs work closely with relevant departments (like HR or legal) to develop and refine policies that align with the company's strategy. Google is free.
π no. They were HIS policies and he knew full well people were being denied coverage they desperately needed. He had every opportunity to enact change but didnβt. He sure didnβt have a problem cashing his paycheck or enjoying his massive bonuses. Zero sympathy for him.
$23 million to deny paid for benefits.
United Healthcare has nothing to do with healthcare.
They skim minimum 20% off the top. Theyβre just bankers, middlemen between you and your Doctor #medicare4all
Just went through that with Northstar homeowners after a storm. They delayed for weeks, issued checked incorrectly so I had to keep requesting them, declined paying replacement costs that I paid for. I know it will get worse with the chuckle head taking over Jan 20.
In a short time, people will have forgotten all about it. United will have hired a new CEO, and it will the same as it ever was. One dead CEO is not going to change a company that made 22 billion in profits last year.
Windows break with disturbing frequency.
As to break lines in cars. Very unreliable.
And don't even get me started on misfiring personal firearms! It could be right in your purse or jacket pocket, safe as can be, an POOF!, suddenly fires without reason.
Very tragic.
Im thinking that this #unitedhealthceoshooting may be an indication of a tipping point. People are pissed. Wealth inequalities have become ridiculous. French Revolution?
I was a nurse auditor that appealed insurance denials. One thing is certain...Insurance companies are NOT your friends. They don't care about you or your health. They only care about the almighty $$$
I'm very interested in watching how this plays out. If it is indeed found that this goes back to the gunmans loved one being denied care or died, I think the court case will be very interesting. I don't know if I could convict the man even without knowing his motive...
About time someone bought this up I been hospitalized the other side of the world has to pay everything myself if I didn't have the money I would have died then has to fight with insurance company for one year to get compensated
In class warfare it's important to recognize that billionaire CEOs should get the same reverence for human life that they display. I don't condone violence and murder, but I also have no mercy for those that touch a stove they made hot themselves. Those casings are morbidly but pleasantly poetic.
I'm not going to endorse what happened or encourage things like what had occurred. But this option of "non-violent passive resistance" thus far has failed. We need some way of ensuring companies are in check and when the state doesn't do that, people take it upon themselves to. So far violently.
Yes there has. It's called democracy. But when companies cheat democracy by buying out politicians in a two party system you don't get the opportunity for peaceful resolutions because companies will change the laws to suit them.
People resort to violence when peaceful solutions don't work.
We saw this happen in Gaza. When Fatah couldn't get Israel to stop killing their people and engaging in resettlement campaigns through diplomatic means, the people voted in Hamas who was the only other option they hadn't tried. This led to more death but put yourself in the people of Gaza's shoes.

Maybe UHC should have hired him to work for them instead of making another enemy.

Non-violent passive resistance is the only acceptable and, in the long-run, effective form of direct action outside of the system.
