"Insane how the US grew up right next to Canada and we turned out like this - It's like when one sibling goes to Harvard and the other dies pantless in a meth lab explosion." - Emily Murnane

It turns out our two party system became too toxic. Parliaments require coalition building, provide room for meaningful third parties, and maybe don't form as much lifetime allegiance to any particular party. We have holes in our Constitution. We have an electoral college flaw.
With all due respect , there were times when the US was very bad . Mc Carthy springs to mind . The internment of innocent Japanese citizens , and the slavery .
I'll add The Second Amendment. Gun culture is based on the idea you need to violently defend yourself from anyone and everyone, including the government, leading to this situation where you line up against imaginary enemies and ignore any act committed against you by your own side.
Or the fact that I’m a bleeding heart liberal that at the age of 5 told my step dad if I had a million dollars I’d build houses for all the homeless people and my brother said he’d buy all the baseball cards in the world. Yeah, he’s maga now and I’m a therapist serving marginalized communities.
Did Trump not realize that the world really likes Canada? Most countries have our backs, and a lot of Americans do too. This will not end well.
And can anyone tell me why he only put a 10% tariff on energy? I thought he said he needs nothing from Canada, and Grasley is now begging for cheaper potash?
After observing my late husband's adult life as compared to his middle brother's life (who married an extremist Christian right-wing girl)...it is so true.
It's hard when one kod goes to Harvard and makes a living killing people by denying care to build their own wealth. The other kid is self-employed and dies young because he can't afford healthcare.
We've always been this way, just in a quieter way.
Laws don't change views.
Views never changed. Most here actually agree with most Nazi views.
Sad truth.
No it’s like one went to Harvard and the other traveled the world, educated itself, and then decided to work toward the benefit of the larger community.
This sibling has experienced trauma from being founded on slavery. Much of the populace is still not dealt with their racism which is why half of the country are still black-out drunks acting out.
I think an election will be triggered late March unless the NDP come to their senses. Not in the oppositions best interest to let Carney establish himself as a competent manager. Trudeau will be gone as soon as they choose their new leader and I'm not sure drump knows how to focus.
I'm sad, I won't lie but I really do hope Canada and Mexico become great friends. Something good has to come from this shitshow that orange hitler has created.
When it comes to Trump, you can only win by embarrassing him. Canada constantly laughs at itself and will have no problem making an embarrassment out of Trump and, hopefully, Musk, too. Can Canada revoke Musk’s citizenship?
I don’t know if we can. I think we make him a criminal instead. One of our parties is calling for an election interference investigation against him. That way if he steps foot across the border we’ve got him.
Congratulations, POTUS and MAGA. You have managed to make the friendliest country in the world your enemy. It's like getting a Golden Retriever to maul you.
As a Canadian it would be a little more like:
- ONT: It’s like when one sibling went to public trades school and makes more than some doctors….
- MB: It’s like when one sibling took over the family corporate farming industry……
- AB: it’s like when one sibling went to work on the rigs and….
- BC: it’s like when one sibling went to UBC and became a sports physician
- SASK: it’s like when one sibling went to vet school and then opened a book store
- QC: Tabernack!

I think we are more European than we’d like to think and in some rural places we have a lot of space between communities and have had to lean on one another.
One country was born out of war with the prevailing mythology that the individual was paramount. The other was forged out of diplomacy with the egalitarian notion that a rising tide lifts all boats. The differences, esp in context of the current corruption, are readily apparent.

We had Redneck KKK and Christian fanatics, here we are.
❤️
We get to work
Tired of winning yet, MAGA?
For a country that never admits its errors, the U.S. is going to be served a lot of humble pie.
For decades they have been undermining Canada at every opportunity- domestically and from the other side of the border.
