Many think the tariffs are a policy with a rational goal. And presume that Trump would want the US to participate in world sporting events. If we instead assume as all evidence would suggest that he’s there to destroy our global role, we won’t be mystified with his gleeful end to such participation.

The problem for Trump is that the majority of people in his coalition expect things to continue as normal...like world sporting events. If he does screw those events up, then of course most of his supporters will adjust to it and be fine with it. But it's easier for him if events like that continue.

Our local CoC has received requests from the Census Bureau for HMIS data. The Census data is already being joined with Tax data. If you were to join all three together; you would have a very powerful tool that could easily be used to find the most “undesirable” to lock up and/or deport.

I suspect another factor here will be how much influence the US tourism industry has over the Trump admin. Even if the WC and Olympics do happen, if things continue as they are, the numbers of foreigners who would brave traveling to the US for these events will be much smaller than normal.
