why do all gaming pc cases look like they're trying so hard to be the dorkiest scifi spaceship with a mini rave inside them? i want a case that looks like a chunk of wood or something

Cases have come far. Iβm still waiting for monitors that donβt have the hotwheels aesthetics. Most gamers are above 30 and have family and want their setup to look decent and not like a childrenβs toy.
kind of hating the RBG-by-default trend because i'm pretty sure we're getting charged extra for it wanted or not, and personally i'd prefer it if the most expensive thing in my apartment didn't broadcast its presence with shifting bounce lighting. should not need blackout curtains at night ffs.
DUDE I was about to post this one. the fractal North is the prettiest case ever, I've had it for about a year now- i stickerbombed it and stuck some magnetic filters on the outside so it doesn't get too dusty
cases are perhaps the part with the most variety, so you should be able to find something you can at least tolerate. when i was building a computer, i got a minimalistic black cuboid with a mesh front. i used pcpartpicker with the panel filter set to "none" to hide all cases with glass windows.
there's some pretty minimalist ones if you shop in the right brands but they also all have giant glass window panes on the side of em which makes them crazy heavy. there's no winning.
i ended up getting one that just looks like a sleek black box but it's also a behemoth because graphics cards are like 2x the size of what they were when i bought my last case T_T
I want an organic, moving, throbbing meat case that pulses depending on current usage. The coolant fluid can be transported in semi visible veins.
To turn it on, you need to press a nail embedded the organic matter, with a slight screech and squelch informing you of the boot up sequence.
They gave me the fans with lights only because the fans without lights were sold out.
I don't want my computer to be the reason I can't sleep if I'm downloading something while it's asleep, I am that bitter and petty, lemme have a dark, unlit PC with no blue LEDs or diodes.
My motherboard forgets my settings every time the thing reboots, and the lights come back on, and the firmware updates never work, so I've always got a pair of pants draped over the window, which I'm sure is great for air circulation.
Maybe someday I won't have my PC right next to my bed.
Mine also has the vents facing my bed due to room layout, but my landlord has decided our apartment needs a temperature that compares to mid-summer heat so I *cannot* cover my vents, sadly.
... I wonder if there's a problem with the battery in your mobo.
I've seen that lots of people have the same issue, and it's been addressed by the manufacturer, but I can't get the update to work. I'm hoping to move someday, and when that happens, I'll just be building a new PC after I've moved. No way am I lugging this HAF-3 overseas. I want a PC I can carry.
Right? I want my room to be devoid of flashbang dispenser, kindly.
Again, they didn't have two unlit fans - only one.
I shoulda said "I'll wait for a reorder."
Or buy some unlit fans.
I live downtown, there's enough light pollution in my room as is.
Honestly, I think we should bring back the computer design from the 90's where everything are those big, chunky, white blocks, with goofy looking keyboards and mouse. And I'm not even joking. As evidenced by the fact that my Linux desktop looks like... this...
I came here to recommend Fractal design cases, but everyone else beat me to it. Anyway, they are very pretty, just as affordable, and function identically in all the ways any other gaming case functions. Basically there are no obvious tradeoffs if you like the aesthetic.
I love this case, got mine a couple weeks back, the black tempered glass version!
I wasn't really into RGB gamer stuff but this case makes it (more) stylish π
I was thinking I managed to find a fairly plain case and it's a shame I can't remember the brand, then I realised it's the same one everyone keeps posting.

my current case meets none of these requirements π
Found just the shell on ebay

Only red leds. And black everything else.
Thats it.

But when my PC decides to randomly restart in the middle of the night my room lights up like a Christmas tree and wakes me up.
Maybe someday I won't have my PC right next to my bed.

But I do woodworking and have been considering making a wooden case.
I may have to do it, just 3d print and steal from an old case, whatever else I would need.
