And history is culturally biased, depending on the agenda of the ruling classes. China's history books will very greatly to most other countries, for example.
That alone should have the country up in arms at least those with education this infuriates the fuck out of me they’re trying to erase it so they can brainwash generations ahead so they don’t know about what has happened and how evil the white radical men actually are
History Geek endorses this post! Will add a favorite quote:
“The only thing we learn from history is that people do not learn from history” — Winston Churchill
History has always, and will always be written by the victors. But it's not until our current times the current truth is actually determined by those who are the victors, by the slimmest margins. Let's hope they do not remain victorious.
We got her as a puppy from a Latino family (Senorita) so I named her Pita for Dakota Fanning half Latin half White character in "Man on Fire" and Mosquito because she was little and super bitey as a pup. Senorita Pita Mosquito.
if any americans or canadians reading this would be interested, i’ve made a discord server for americans considering asylum and canadians willing to help out. i’d be happy to send you all a link if you’re interested!
If history teaches us anything, it's that even small changes in climate can decimate a civilization, as can resource depletion and political mismanagement.
This thing has been waiting to smack us in the face for a while.
If the structures of the human mind remain unchanged ( unaware and unenlightened) we will always end up re-creating fundamentally the same world, the same evils, the same dysfunction.
Read a nice one on a stone, next to a door of a house, in the middle of France. It was something like: you cannot use a gum to wipe away the past, but you can choose to use your pen to write a better future.
When I read an article stating mathematics in schools fostered systematic white supremacy, I despaired for our children…and critical thinking in our country.
They are too stupid to realize Black history IS American history. Nothing will ever change that.
"It is their lot in life,"
my mom used to say that this phrase
Denying this history is detrimental for their souls. The true trauma.
Prime opportunity to point out fact that there was no civilization that referred to themselves as the “Aztecs”
American historians renamed them that way.
Preach! Here's some uncomfortable history for everyone. Look up Operation Paperclip. They're raising their ugly heads again and we must stamp them out for good this time. #StopFascism
But it’s flawed, like every other human endeavor. It’s also extremely complex, so it is open to some interpretation. The people who write it and even the eye witnesses can be biased. “History is written by the winners,” but if you try to get the “losers” side then you may be labeled as woke.
Yup, sometimes even now there are bits missing, people not only can be but inherently are biased and it's impossible not to be, history is extremely important but it's also rarely that clear cut as "this is right and that's wrong"
Cycles in History starting with the Dutch, Germans, British, and now the US. Important to know where we are at in the cycle in order to be able to meet this moment. Educate yourself and your friends and pass it on! https://youtu.be/xguam0TKMw8?si=G_e6H5eLPD6gfR-i
The understanding of history can change over time based on new discoveries or a broader range of voices offering insights that expand our ability to interpret events, but it is absolutely not anyone’s to erase.
I'm GenX who grew up in Georgia. Even as a little kid I knew the "Lost Cause" was a racist white wash of history. I was dumbfounded my teachers didn't see it let alone believed in it enough to teach it. When you lift the curtain and regnoize the role racism played in our country, history makes sense
Took classes in the American Civil War during my degree. Essay question was the causes on the war, answered it by looking at the Historiography. Lost cause after war, 1920s economic causes, 1960s vote data, 1990s social causes. Who writes history is influenced by the time it was written.
Another point if confusion was that term, "Victor's write the history." In Atlanta we have like a smaller version of Mt. Rushmore with Confederate "heros." In school I had "Confederate Memorial Day" off instead of Memorial Day 'cause that one was the Yankee holiday.
Wow that’s odd 😳 over here we don’t get taught much about American history, us Brits focus on our history and a lot of WW1 and WW2.

I’m still mad we got like no education on the Mexican civil wars and their issues over the last 200 years. Same for Canada. I might be American, but we are all connected by a continent and our history is interconnected and shared.
