Delighted to watch him burn his credibility with officers he’ll need to carry orders contravening the UCMJ - international law - even as he stiffs vets & enlisteds on commissary privileges and benefits.
Who’d risk getting tried at The Hague attacking NATO when this clown can’t even Monroe Doctrine?
About 30% of the US's coffee is imported from Colombia.
Who will make up the shortfall.
What will the average US voter feel if their coffee intake is rationed?
Will Trump make them drink ersatz instead?
In general, ICAO-Rules do not include any military flights. So the »Freedoms of the Air« do not apply to these flight. They need a permit for every time they enter the airspace.
I think a lot of countries will be forced into new alliances in self protection and a total reconfiguration of world trade, including the UK and Europe.
Countries are going to be forced to decouple from the US.
This is not going to benefit the US.
Deportations under Trump slumped to half what they were during Obamas first term. Biden deported a tad more than Trump did .. both without needing to make a big show of it.. or using transport planes and camera ops.
Welll... the sanctions may be on Colombia, but the tariffs are on American importers! Who... will not only pass those along to consumers, but they'll raise the price of all the coffee they sell.
Look for the price of coffee to jump $2/lb. by the time it gets to you.
These tariffs won't hurt Colombia. They can still sell all their coffee to the US at their usual prices. Where the hell us would we get it? The only ones it will hurt is American consumers, who have to buy the coffee AND pay the tariffs!
Yes indeed, but it will damage their business and consumer reaction will be strong and voluminous, - it will put Starbucks in a bad light. Of course they will blame tariffs, but that’s good. Consumers will no doubt make their feelings known both to Starbucks and government.
A lot of Dunkin and Aromas Joes cups around where I work. Not gonna be so many in a few weeks, I bet. Bet the free coffee in the cafeteria's gonna be going away soon too.
In my opinion, Trump is already the laughingstock of the world. He's now talking about moving the people of Gaza to Egypt and other countries? As if it's his choice? Has anyone else read this?
They’re going to try so much blatantly awful and just downright stupid stuff because they truly seem to believe their own spin about having a mandate. I’m hopeful they’re going to go too far, too fast and inflict more economic pain than the apathetic “inflation” voters will tolerate
JD Vance is just as big a liar as Trump. He said in an interview that Trump has accomplished more in his first week than Biden accomplished in 4 years. I wished the moderator would have turned off his mic and run a list of all of Biden's accomplishments many of which were cleaning up Trump's messes.
Done….200 Colombian K-Cups are on their way from Sam’s 😀Amazon had already increased their prices 25% or more from my last order 1 week ago. Talk about obeying in advance!
“You can use your economic power and arrogance to attempt a coup, as you did with Allende. But I will die standing by my principles. I’ve endured torture, and I will endure you.
“You may kill me, but I will survive in my people, who existed long before yours, in the Americas.
Important to notice : all of this is (AFAICT from limited relatively neutral reporting) because he refused to allow the US to land military transport planes of their citizens after learning of their treatment following the first transports to Brazil. US news is claiming he caved because..*reasons*?🤷🏽
As expected Trump has rejected Colombia’s offer of the presidential plane to bring back migrants. “It’s not enough to stop us taking action,” a spokesperson said.
Trump and his hand-picked admin would be too stupid and hot-headed to set up a coup in another country. It requires more than orders. No chance they could pull that off. A sprinkle of Elon isn't enough either.
They used AI and social media manipulation to win the American election. Doesn’t work so well in other countries where the Internet isn’t central to people’s lives.
I hate to gloat but my regular pack of delicious Columbian coffee will not cost 25% more. That's because UK government (now) values migrants and treats them as human beings.
Apparently Columbia is our largest source of coffee, so yes, we can “just” switch sources, but that means there’s suddenly a big jump in demand for other countries’ beans, and prices will rise accordingly. Columbia is not a bit player in this market.
Fair enough. I live in Europe. But regardless, even if the cost of coffee beans went up 25% in the US, that wouldn't mean the retail price of coffee went up that much.
Given how much the cost of everything has gone up in a couple years here (a gallon of orange juice has gone up 50%, olive oil 35%, my electric bill 20%, etc) we’re primed to notice and be pissed about it.
Have a look how the price of coffee developed the last year and especially the last two months. Not the time to add tax on top of that. And Columbia doesn’t have to sell to the US.
Denouncing the F-35 contracts at first attack against any European country (UK included) would be best practice. Cancelling any and all military supply announced coming next. US industry would launch Trump straightaway to Planet Mars
Now, I don't drink coffee at all because it makes me feel ill, but given the reactions here (admittedly a small sample) it might be interesting to see what the US reaction would be if ALL coffee exporting countries imposed an export tariff on coffee where the final destination was the US.
I find it hilarious that if any states appease Trump, e.g. El Salvador, they'll bear the brunt and get more migrants now. Suckers!
We should support Colombia by buying its products here.
My son's side of the family is Colombian and I know the country. There seem to be quite a few enterprising people there. Hit me up with ideas, everyone!
Coffee is the least of the problems, speciality petroleum product, Minerals and large Corp partnerships with Chevron are going to get messy fast. FYI US oil companies will have to pay the tariffs..
Counter tariffs from other South American partners will take place....
tR*mp is a stuck record, a one-trick pony - his childish petulance is entirely predictable, especially when the orange shitgibbon can't get his own (evil) way.
Hope those US voters naive enough to vote him in (again) enjoy those higher grocery prices.
so typical of Trump to act first and ask questions later. What kind of leader spends almost a million dollars to use a military plane to drop people off in another country without asking or getting permission to do so?
A good politician would have spoken to Colombian government and 'greased' the machine with some sort of joint agreement signed...then sent planes. Not the big orange turd. He prefers Bully Boy Putin tactics.
It was because they were being transported in an inhumane way. Petro said, "I can't force migrants to stay in a country where they're not wanted, but that country should return them with dignity and respect toward them and also our country." He then sent his private jet to fetch them home.
I see that the idiot has backed down now he's been confronted - this needs to happen every time. Fight back. Stand up to the bullies. He'll get bored and move onto something else

contravening the UCMJ - & international law -
sigh.
Who will make up the shortfall.
What will the average US voter feel if their coffee intake is rationed?
Will Trump make them drink ersatz instead?
a) that much to spare
b) deal with Cuba? - Well, maybe. Trump is the essence of consistency.
I don’t think there are any existing rules.
Countries are going to be forced to decouple from the US.
This is not going to benefit the US.
Look for the price of coffee to jump $2/lb. by the time it gets to you.
And don't forget, EVERY step in the chain, EVERY middleman, and of course retailer, adds their percentage on the whole thing.
So, $2 spent by an importer on tariffs could be $4 retail.
That's how this shit works.
Starbucks will be selling hot milk and eggless muffins from Monday - wtf McDs are going to sell is anyone's guess.
What Columbia should do it spike Trump Jnr's cocaine.
Be hilarious if America ran out of coffee on Trump’s watch. If only for a few days.
Great way to send a message.
“Overthrow me, President, and the Americas and humanity will respond.
“I’ve been informed that you’ve imposed a 50% tariff on our human labour’s fruits to enter the US. I’ll do the same.”
Does this make us great again?
Are eggs cheaper?
FUCK TRUMP.
“You may kill me, but I will survive in my people, who existed long before yours, in the Americas.
“From today, Colombia opens its arms to the world.”
Negotiations continue,
Great marketing.

Not working so far
Trumps is insane and, with so much power, he's unpredictable & dangerous. Can't we just do diplomacy, first?
I’m disgusted, ashamed and scared
