Black Metal is something I cannot get into. This isn’t a troll thing, I’ve tried and can’t. The classic bands I’ve listened to and enjoyed a little. I do however prefer it when it mixes with Trash and or Death Metal

Certain bands people love and I just can’t get into but that’s what it’s all about different views but talked about maturely
I am not inclined to listen to ALL BM, but it sounds like something I'd like, I would give it a go
I still have no clue what Black Metal sound like from memory
I need few example from the actual song or some song mixed in between in the genre to say "oh that's Black Metal"
The power and atmosphere make a difference
(I find BM difficult to take seriously on sunny afternoons at festivals)
We had a moment of 'metal confessions' at the conference- people shyly said 'i hope no one hates me but I just can't get into .....'
It was like a weird therapy to say it out loud.
As a historian admitting to people I don't really listen to Iron Maiden was a big deal
That said, if you don’t like Dissection’s Storm of the Light’s Bane then feel free to dismiss the genre entirely and carry on as you were. 🙃

Anyone dogging on you for not liking something...especially a rather specific type of metal that can often be an acquired taste, like BM...is being a troll themselves.

I have never been able to like the "original" BM bands, even if I am Norwegian :D Bad production is NOT a selling point for me.
But lately I have learned to really love a lot of the newer ABM bands, and I wouldn't be surprised if it turned into my favorite genre soon.
You and I may or may not enjoy the same music, but that's why there are a variety of genres to enjoy.

"Resplendent Grotesque", and it's not really straight up BM. I like elements of it mixed with other things. I feel the same about Satyricon "Volcano". Lots of other elements. Kinda black and roll sorta.I didn't realize you like Resplendent Grotesque that much!!!!!!!!!

I am a long way from being a fan, but there are certain albums and bands that are hitting really nicely for me at the moment even if they aren’t “Trve” enough for the BM purists.

I get art from artist and all that but still…
music's subjective. 90% of my tastes in metal are on the lighter end, enjoy what you want n say what you like about it! ppl with similar tastes will be happy to compare what they like.
Plenty of banger songs from genres I wouldn't usually listen to but a lot of metal has pig squeals/dirty vocals for an entire song. They have their place, but not for a whole song imho.
But if people disagree that's the spice of life!
