Hello from Hudson, WI, where I’m visiting my in-laws with my husband, and will risk fate hundreds of times over the next five days in the presence of my mother-in-law’s Christmas cookies.

I used to stop in Hudson all the time on the drive back and forth when I went to school in Minneapolis and went home to Madison to visit - but I never stopped for mother-in-law cookies, which sound amazing. Happy eating!
This is my mother in law as well! And then on the way out the door: “do you want to take some soup for the road? Some casserole? Some bean salad? Some fruit salad?” 😂
So, my understanding of the universe from this post is that you and I have somehow become fated to always be 30-45 minutes drive from each other at any given time.
My theory is that given a near or total collapse of society Wisconsin mother in laws (I too have one) will not only survive but quietly thrive. The knitting, baking, canning, gardening, stoic Midwestern view of past and future is all something to behold.
It's a known fact that Christmas cookies do not have any calories. None, nada, zilch. You can eat as many as you want without any side effects. Those are the rules of Christmas.

*by "cookies" I mean, cookies, of course. This is pre Xmas I'm still on Santa's Nice List.
(Also, welcome to Wisconsin!)
