A brief break from … the world: Like many people, I have bought a certain number of things that Look Good On The Internet. One of the very best is this guy, my Ember mug that keeps your drink hot. It is the only mug I use for my morning coffee.

I am now completely spoiled, and when a cup of coffee drops in temperature at all, I frown inwardly. The other day, I didn’t have it seated right, and I thought, “SOMETHING IS WRONG,” and I looked at the app and my coffee was three degrees cooler than it should be. Princess and the Pea over here.
I will say, if you use dairy in your coffee, then after a long time holding temperature, it can develop a little skin on top, but honestly, I just touch it with my finger and lift it off if that happens.
So it's really worth the price? I feel like I pour half my coffee down the drain because I won't drink it if it's not hot anymore and I definitely won't microwave it.
Okay, I bought a couple of these but ended up returning them - they have a very generous return policy btw - because of the dairy problem. Looks like there are some good tips here and maybe I need to try again.
Well, thank *you* for the thing about metal spoons, about which I had NO clue and we usually stir any coffee made by our Nespresso machine with a little metal whisk, so maybe I will prep those cups in another mug and decant to the Ember Mug. Plus buy ceramic spoons ;)
Like I said, I bought a little set of silicone spoons for cheap, and I just keep one in a little cup near the coffee maker and swap them out when they need washing.
I have a cheaper version of this that's basically a tiny hot plate with a pressure sensor that I can use with any mug, and I love it so much I have one on my bedside table and another on my desk in the same room.
Yes — there are solutions at different price points depending on what you want to spend and how much of a big baby you are about your coffee (I am very much).
This is good. I'm always confused by the true coffee snobs who write about optimum coffee temperature and it always sounds like something designed to strip skin from my tongue.

I had a heating pad one and it made my ceramic mug too hot.
Also, if conductive, can you charge your phone on it, too?
