I haven't finished it yet but I loved the old ones. I liked them for the story and disliked the combat, which is reversed for veilguard now. If they make another one and give me the writing of origins and the rest of the veilguard, I'd have a new top game. Im still addicted to it nonetheless for now
Never played any of the previous DA game, but I had actual fun playing Veilguard. It's action packed and dynamic. I personally never cared much about the RP in a game, so I just skipped most of the dialogs : I want to actually play the game, not watching virtual chars telling their virtual lives.
Especially when those don't have any influence in the gameplay, ending(s), etc.
This may sound rude and derogatory to the people who actually put some effort in those aspects, but that's how I play.
i could make an argument that it’s actually the best one but it would be steeped in my belief that none of the dragon age games are great, which i realize is a non-starter for a lot of people
I'm always confused when people talk about the other games like they're great novels or something, they're just fun fantasy RPGs. Veilguard's writing feels a little different but it's not like a massive jump. And the gameplay is way better.
i think loving a non-terrible bioware game involves a lot of forgiveness. (spoken as someone who loves D:AO and all the Mass Effects, though I confess I was bored off of Andromeda)
Andromeda just never scratched the itch quite like the Mass Effect series did. I enjoyed mechanics of it, and don't get me started on my crush for Vetra.
it certainly deserves less shit than it's gotten. i agree with your point more generally that none of these games are very good and people mad at veilguard should consider replaying them
velguard is a Clumsy game. thats the word i would use to describe it. but once you read about its development that all clicks into place. it also gave me moments i thought i'd never experience in a video game (re: a player character speaking about gender in an emotional + realistic way)
