I spent my first three Monster Hunter reviews getting called a casual since World was my first game in the series, and am spending my fourth getting flack for saying the game is easy when clearly it's just because I am too hardcore of a Monster Hunter player.
I love the internet.

I reviewed Monster Hunter Wilds, and my feelings about it are the worst thing to be on the internet: nuanced!
It's some of the most fun I've had with the series, making super smart tweaks to the formula all over - but it's also weirdly easy, never pushing me to think about my armor like past games.

If you’re new to Monster Hunter, the main story is a good on-ramp that won’t frustrate you.
If you’re a veteran, just beeline through til you hit high rank bc that’s still as good as ever. 🤷♀️
Interesting problem for them to solve in G rank.
but yeah MH always has to thread a weird needle of accessible to new people and challenging to anyone who played any previous gen.
Like is "don't worry, we just have to wait for them to sell us an expansion before this full-priced game gets going" really a good defense?
