I have woken every two hours since I first fell asleep and I’m fed up with listening to sleep stories and meditations so I’ve come downstairs. Insomnia is so frustrating!

I'm similar. Fell asleep around 10pm, woke up half past midnight and no sign of anymore sleep. Tempted to just get ready for the day at this rate. Frustrating!
I try not to try, if you see what I mean. So I listen to a story or read a book for the enjoy of the narrative, and if sleep comes it’s a bonus. Or I get up. The worst thing is lying in bed fretting about it!
Yes! Sometimes just accepting that we're awake and getting up to do something else reduces a lot of the pressure and frustration. I found that worked well for me too.
Yes, and before I focused on sleep, I worked in community mental health as a social worker. Mental health and sleep are so interconnected, but sleep isn't often treated as a distinct issue in itself. I could see that medications weren't fully addressing WHY someone was having ongoing sleep troubles.
