Society: “Remember when your medications didn’t exist and you people just died? You should be grateful.”
Me, I'm all raise the minimum wage, raise disability, raise all the things.
[Internally]: so they're saying they'd die if they were me. How weak *are* these people?
"It's no big thing; deal with the hand you have."
[Internally]: I wish I could have a normal body for at least one day.
Others take so much for granted.
Most of my meals are eggs and rice.
GOVERNMENT: Actually, you can't have more than This Much money.
DISABLED PEOPLE: My healthcare provisions and living adjustments require me to have or spend more money.
GOVERNMENT: We _will_ cut your benefits and take any money in excess of This Much.
DISABLED PEOPLE: 🫠
My disability provided and madatory insurance refused to cover a $7k emergency surgery.
They really just want disabled people to disappear
Get everyone at a stable level.
Also true in general for people just struggling to get by
SOCIETY: That means we can cut your benefits since disabled people aren't allowed more than $2000 in savings :)
Society: wow, now you don't need any money at all
Disabled people: wh-
Society: problem solved!
I've had a few say that from time to time.
Clapping doesn't pay rent...
SOCIETY: You are so inspiring granted.
I have been literally fighting for almost 9 years to get SSI due to my mental and physical disabilities, and the sheer amount of incompetence they have been putting me through.... (1/2)
.... They shouldn't be making me feel this way.... I have enough problems w/ paranoia as it is.... (2/2)
It's a sick and cruel system....
Since a drunk broke my back, I'm now "useless" and pretty much can't die fast enough for them
Luckily all of my income comes from pensions/savings and can't be cut
That's an improvement on the 7 months where I couldn't get out at all
I don't get out much either. I got a spine implant in January that cut my pain by 2/3rds and reduced daily pain meds by a 80%. We'll gripe and moan sometime together.
I was thinking of buying a place in that development by Quadra at 202 and 86th
But a lot of stuff has been put on the back burner while I heal and build up my strength
A lot of normies on CERB in Canada said it wasn't enough to live on.
"HOW CAN ANYONE LIVE ON $24,000 A YEAR???"
Exactly, bitches. How?
*(Canada Emergency Response Benefit given to those who couldn't work because of Covid measures like shutdowns.)
I am pretty sure the poster is Canadian and that is why I was thinking CERB. Unless my brain is misfiring today.
I have good days and bad days. The tasks of the day get selected based on the quality of the day.
Which is how I learned that disability payments are made on the legal standing that disabled people are our family's problem first and aren't expected to be independent
i'm so fuckin tired and I miss affording food regularly
Biden and Harris owe every US person $70k rn w their broken promise of pandemic UBI, UI, etc
I think about that often
