(one thing i might recommend to democrats is to start *now* using every opportunity available to tell americans that trump's tariffs will make your life more expensive)

My siblings and I bought my parents a car over the summer and I feel extremely grateful that we did that when we did. Not a thing we would be able to do if predicted prices come to fruition.
And it’s not a thing my parents could’ve afforded as it was, never mind in the potential future.
I was chatting with a friend last weeks and he was a bit taken aback when I pointed out the tariffs and tax cuts for rich people are going to cause inflation and rising interest rates. I didn’t touch on the impact of deporting millions of workers.
I’m haven’t checked your other numbers but the first thing that came up on search is that The average income for all occupations in the U.S. was $61,900 in 2022.
I suspect trump will stick w highly targeted tariffs but bluster on like it’s a huge deal & China is all pissed off. Because…the stock market would implode over lots of tariffs. He wants a good stock market
building supplies & tools will go up -whatever NEEDs fixing fix it now. Make sure your vehicles are working well (including tires), computers, phones, monitors. If your pets require special canned foods - the 'food' may not be the issue but the cans they come in will be.
He's kicking out of any kind of immigrants is going to make it so that nobody can afford to eat or we all just starve to death because nothing gets harvested or processed and we don't have any food.
I manage a grocery store and prices are already increasing. People really should learn not to vote with money on the mind. Because this time next year I might be out of a job and they will be paying 2x more for food.
Very good advice- but we are so into our news silos and divergent realities, not sure if those of us on the left simply yell more often and louder it will make any difference.
We need an online AI Tariff calculator that shows exactly what the tariff will cost. And blue states to pass labeling laws stipulating the tariff dollar “penalty” goes on the tag or receipt. Or both.
For my seventy year old relatives in Colorado and Wisconsin, the only thing that will impact them to change their mind is if they lose their benefits and their investments.
Tariffs on South Korea and Japan are a really bad idea, but I doubt that Trump can figure that out. When it comes to tariffs, Trump is downright stupid.
Cynar, a little rose or white wine, bitters, seltzer — not exciting but a pleasant spritz. Sometimes I add it to whiskey, vermouth, amarena cherries for a twist on Manhattan. The classic is to serve it with Coke but we don’t usually have Coke on hand!
Tell Americans that their 401ks could melt down which is a double hammer: less wealth and inflation outpacing portfolio growth
I’m in my early 50s and I am seriously considering over indexing on a devalued bond market vs potential equities wipe outs because I’d like to retire before 80
Absolutely. All the money Dems paid to the communications and media gurus this election cycle, they owe it to the DNC to develop a plan. Yea, I’m sure they’ll hop right to it. 🙄
But you know they're just gonna say it happened because democrats. We aren't dealing with accountability here. Still, I'm 100% with you. What else is there to do :\
Yup. I've been mentioning this to everyone I talk to as to why my fiancée and I bought a new microwave, TV, air purifier, food staples, and likely a new computer CPU.
We need some damning catchphrases or alliterations that are easy to remember. Trump's tariffs is a good start - can we match the intensity or "death taxes" or "death panels"
I was at Home Depot on Sunday and the dude in line behind me (who was standing way too close and talking loudly) was casually discussing his plan to buy a house in a year. I almost turned around and asked how but I didn't want to get screamed at.
Especially durable goods. BLS tracks this stuff, but who knows whether we can trust the numbers once the new admin takes over. They also say they want to eliminate the Dept of Labor, which includes the BLS. Just threats now - they can't eliminate departments without legislation.
You better believe if given an opportunity, they will hide statistical information from the US consumer! But we’re not dumb and will see the price increases!
I mean isn’t that what the H-W campaign did a whole bunch of? Is the theory that we need every Rep. Town Hall doing it? What’s the platform that moves the needle.
There has to be a point where corporate interests check some of this craziness, right? Like mass deportations constrain the work force and economy. Trump doesn't need tariffs to cut taxes for the rich but they will crush consumption and crush the economy.
My conservative mom said something about tariffs this past weekend. She was also pretty shocked at the real winners that are going to be running the place along with him.
I have tried to tell people and I got told that I was stupid and have no clue, that he has done this before and everything went down in price and that they can't wait until they are paying $1 a gallon for gas again...
So yeah. I've tried and I'm not going to keep hitting my head on a brick wall.

"Trump's tariffs will make your video games, your electronics, and your car more expensive."
prices, crime, inflation, wages, unemployment, etc.
It would educate the masses, and Trump really cares about his score, his stats, and his legacy.

It's WHEN the prices go up, we need to remind them. Unlike last time when ppl said nothing
And when it gets worse in two years, they'll blame it on the Jews.

His health care policies will make health care MUCH more expensive for millions, and out of reach for millions more.
And his immigration policy will have similar effects on prices.
They’re not fiddling while Rome burns, they’re sleeping.
In Congress -2 Dems have introduced privileged resolutions to release the Gaetz ethics report file
Schumer is pushing thru judges as fast as he can
So yeah. I've tried and I'm not going to keep hitting my head on a brick wall.
