I crashed at like 9 pm doing big boy college hw so here I am exploring every new part of the internet I might actually like at 3 am.
If I’m remembering this right (idk if I’m getting it wrong in my old age (23))… this is how I found *Twitter* …and Creepypasta… and some other stuff 🙈
Kind sad that social media has boiled down to opposing tribes trying to spite each other, instead of actually trying to make a usable and enjoyable product and service.
Ikr. I just signed up and the first tweet on my feed was someone saying forgetting earbuds in 2024 is the equivelent of forgetting your sword in medivel times. This app is a hit
Oui and it has weird medieval guys on it… very forward thinking of them. I mean how do they go on the app without phones, computers or for that matter internet and electricity. Must be the old cups and string communication tools again. Very advanced.
It's actually functioning fairly slowly for me, loading takes a while and my profile still has not updated despite the fact I changed my picture and bio.
They are abusers who, upon seeing their targets leave the hate space, are following them to continue harassment. Because that's who they are. Terrible people who enjoy provoking and baiting others into negative reactions.
The person who built it is the same person who built Twitter; Jack Dorsey. The ease
In use is a big plus for me. The principled users are the shining stars in this big BlueSky.
Click on the 3 dots below a post, then click on the button that says mute words and tags. I’ve had a few occasional political posts slip through but I hit the show less like this button and mute more tags.
I “stood” exactly what you meant! I hope they don’t have an algo so we don’t get spoon fed confirmation bias about every topic under the sun…Id prefer to hear and understand all viewpoints on a given topic, assuming its respectful. Cheers Deek!
Threads prioritizes new users whereas BlueSky prioritizes influencers and big accounts. Threads definitely feels more like a friendlier community than BlueSky thanks to the focus on real users instead of influencers who just want your likes rather than discussion.
So far enjoying it more than the click bait-centered Threads or the well-meaning but bland Spoutible, and definitely more than the rage-inducing festering hellhole that was Twitter.
Musk banned comedians that mocked him, removed posts from journalists that asked questions about him, removed research into his past, altered the algorithms to promote his political agenda. It's not free speech, it's his speech or you're out.
Yeah it's pretty neat, although there are bugs here and there (UI not moving to accommodate my keyboard). Let's see how it goes and whether my personal niches transform over here

I'm new, my second tweet. I left xitter the moment he took over the helm, having used it daily since 2017.
I'm so happy to be here and, do far, it appears to be a much more pleasant experience.

I'd assumed every feed must emotionally manipulate you.
my phone isn't the temperature of the sun and posts don't magically dissolve right before I click on them.
Seems like it's not actually "pretty good"
We used to have a term for them: sadists.

1) I tried to post a horizontal cartoon that I scanned and only about 1/3 showed up
2) 1 minute is too short for a video if you want to post something political that you've clipped.
