There’s a house on our street that has the blinds down 100% of the time and I just…could NOT like that. Instant depression. Now I’m curious: are you guys blinds/curtains open during daytime people or no?

We have all our shades closed at all times except the back corner window (always open) and the two for the balcony doors (only when the doors are open) because we live in a glass box and it'd be way too bright and hot in here without any diffusing.
I keep them closed in the bedroom because our neighbours can see in. But open everywhere else. CJ sometimes closes the living room curtains at night especially if it’s cold.
Absolutely blinds and curtains open during the day! I only use the blinds because we're on the first floor. Back when I lived on the third my blinds almost never got used. Don't like sheers, gotta get that sunlight!
I do like some natural light, but unfortunately sometimes there can be too much of a good thing. In the hottest part of summer I close the 3 western windows in my living room to the late afternoon sun bc it blinds me & overheats my home.
absolutely curtains open ALL THE TIME, I don't even like closing them so I can see the TV better, although at the moment there's construction on our building and men are going up and down past the window all day and I haaaaate it
curtains closed at night, tho; if ANY light gets in I can't sleep
My office doesn’t have any windows. So. Closed I guess? 😅
(I do sometimes leave the door open so I get reflected daylight from the hall, but I’m basically a “when I’m working I barely notice if it’s day or night” kind of person… ^^)
we have such huge south-facing windows that the blinds have to stay mostly closed as soon as the weather gets hot or we'll Die. but I don't have to like it
FTR, we only close the blinds in the bedroom at night & SOMETIMES, in the winter, I’ll close my office blinds (they look out onto the street) at the end of the day, but the LR looks out into the yard anyway so we never bother. I am a plant, I require natural light at all times it’s available
Bedroom blinds are closed in the evening/night (my husband is light-sensitive and if it's too bright in the bedroom, he wakes up). The blind next to his office computer is down in the summer, as is the one in my office when it's late afternoon.
Otherwise, all open all the time. Gimme the LIGHT.
Most of my blinds are always down day or night because I am on a small block with foot traffic and I don't want people to see the way I live. :\ Also, I have a dog that would spend literally all day barking at leaves.
I never close my blinds. I need all the light, and the cats and I all like being able to see outside. I also can’t sleep in a room without natural light.
Blinds down full dark in the bedroom, which we're only in for sleeping. We keep blinds up/thin white shades down in the living room, otherwise it's just unbearably bright (you couldn't use a laptop)
idk if it's the position of the house or the size of the windows or what, but even with everything down and closed the house is still bright enough that we can't watch tv during the day
bedroom usually closed ~3/4, & a sheer curtain over the living room window bc the sun & a light are often right at an angle to be in my eyes - otherwise all open all the time bc 2nd floor
we keep the bedroom blinds closed except for a cat-sized open space at the bottom (and we took off the stick to adjust it bc she was playing with it) and have our guest room/office blinds always open and the living room blinds open when the sun is up!
My house it's always down but it's so bright here it doesn't matter to much still light the room & gets enough sun actually I'm thinking of adding black out curtains to my next bedroom because it's too bright some days
blinds/curtains mostly closed in the room i’m in, direct sunlight triggers my anxiety (brain???), but i love sunlight in adjacent rooms so it still feels airy
Blinds open from 5 am till sunset at home! I work in a basement and I have to walk 30ft out of my room to even SEE a window. Natural light at home or I’ll perish!
I mostly have sheer curtains or privacy films bc I want light but I don't want people looking at me lol. I often don't open the light blocking curtains in my bedroom, though, but that's part laziness and part it faces south and I hate the sun in my eyes!
A lot of houses in my neighborhood are that way, which I could NOT do. My bedroom blinds and the bathroom stay closed, and one in the stairway that gets really hot/cold otherwise, but downstairs is wiiiiide open. I didn't even have any window treatments downstairs until last spring.
My curtains are open during the day AND at night. (My flat doesn't overlook anyone and no one can see in, which is the only reason I would close them at night, if I was living somewhere else.)
i try to fully open my living room blinds whenever i can, except when there's snow on the ground because then i'm blinded every time i look at the window lol. woes of a garden apartment
I have one I have to keep closed bc it looks *directly* into next door (lolnyc) but the others I keep open all the time, even when changing, bc I look not over the street but into the block and the building across is far enough away that I’ve decided I don’t care.
Near-permanently closed blinds in the bedroom, near-permanently open blinds in the living room because my cat likes to look out at all hours and will literally break the blinds shoving his head through them if I don't leave them at least half up.
Open 100% of the time, for as much light as possible. We're positioned so that no one can see in unless they have very good binoculars, so we can do this and still have privacy
I like as much sunlight as possible - sheer curtains are always closed but blinds at least half open. Except at this exact time of year (well, pre time change) in the bedroom because the sun likes to beam directly into our eyes at 6am, so I have to close them
Give me LIGHT. My dream house has those fancy blinds that go up and down on their own, because sometimes you need temperature control or privacy, but for now I do it 😂
I stayed in a fancy hotel in Mallorca where they had those and also you could open them with a remote control!! That went straight on my Fantasy Sudden Riches list lol
One of my favorite yt vanlifers who bought land couples just put them in and I’ve always wanted them but now I’ve seen them in detailed action I’m OBSESSED
