Yeah, that's the game he grew up in. Just being kind of a nasty little country club snot. Now he has to put on the armor of god and say Q-adjacent shit just to keep the lights on. Tough stuff!

The family money just means that Little Prince Fishsticks needs even more validation. He has to believe that he EARNED all the money and attention, he's not being propped up by corporations, he's not a creature of immense privilege, he's smart and special and people like him.
…Which probably explains why he’s so desperate to be the court favorite of any sufficiently powerful authoritarian despot, from Donald to Orban. Nothing validates what a special boy you are quite like an approving pat on the head from “daddy!”
I’m picturing my grandpa - who would, if alive, almost certainly be a Trump guy - country club, sales vp, small Midwestern city - but who was also an extremely reserved Minnesota Swede Catholic-by-marriage - having to deal with his evangelical nutcase allies, and it puts a little smile on my face
Both. He certainly wants and needs the attention, he'd never be in the industry he is if he didn't. As for the money, I suspect he's the sort of person for whom there will never be enough, no matter how much he has.

The dude doesn't respect ANY of his audience, it's not just religious fundies he holds contempt for
