If you pray, would you pray for my congregation tomorrow? Tomorrow we vote on whether to leave our denomination after it enacted some extremely strong anti-LGBTQ policies this summer.

The rural Wisconsin congregation I serve is surprisingly progressive given the area but I’m not sure I’d like to have this conversation with them, either. Will definitely pray for you tonight and tomorrow.
I’m not actually anxious about the vote—it will pass quite easily. What I am a little concerned about is *how* it will pass, what things will be said along the way by those who think the denomination made the right call. They’re a minority, but can be vocal.
The church I am no longer a part of is also voting tomorrow. On the same topic.
I'll be a little surprised if it passes (they need 75% to leave apparently) and if it doesn't... I don't know. I think they might just have to cease to exist.
Being unfamiliar with the Reformed churches, all I can say is that former ELCA congregations who left after the 2009 vote for full inclusion of queer folks are now struggling worse than before. Some are running to the misogynistic embrace of the LCMS, others disappearing.
i will. my denom, the pcusa, went through this a few years ago. after first banning ordination of lgbtq people and same gender marriage, it reversed course and allowed both, so a bunch of congregations left. i’m an ordained elder & deacon, and gay, so rejoiced when my denom validated me.

And holy vigor. Gumption and clarity of thought.
Strong back, gentle heart.
All the things you embody already--may they be yours in abundance.

and: I’m so sorrry. Even though you’re not there the way you used to be, I know it still matters.
This is a church that a year or so ago narrowly voted to keep the doors open at all.
They're going to vote to stay. Half of council will be forced to resign. No one else will agree to take those positions. Some people will leave.
And then ???
They won't have a council.
More than 25% will vote to stay but I don't think there's a path for them to continue to exist that way.
