I think one of the big problems is that everyone in charge has no idea how to do anything but the one idea they did have was to fire everyone who knew how to do anything

and the action of firing & subsequent reaction is the only thing that matters, there are no repercussions. The fired people didn't exist before their execution was a headline to be bragged about, and they continue to not exist afterward
I wonder if the USA could connect with some home truths learned from the Iraq war fiasco. They decided to eviscerate the country's civil service and disband its military - causing dangerous and lasting worldwide problems. And now they're doing much the same at home and with their allies.
The mistrusting of experts, and their elimination from spheres of influence, which was explicitly planned by Trump and Vance during the campaign, helps consolidate their fascist power. It still stuns me that people chose this worldview.
Given Elon is using AI to fire people then realizing they were the only ones with the key that opened the front doors and trying to hire them back, yeah, basically
The point of all these new "leaders" was never to know or do anything. They were placed as blind Trump loyalists to burn it all down. (see today's "historic final mission" quote.) Morbidly rich cronies are lined up to profit from the wreckage.
I worked at place like that; brought in consultants because no one knew what to do. They fired everyone they should have kept, and kept everyone they should have fired. Went out of business in 2 years. "Run govt like a business' isn't the plan they think it is.
