On a single point; I ask people why they support a mask ban. They can come up with all sorts of nonsense ("it helps criminals!") but the bottom line that I always get to is, "I don't like it (it makes me uncomfortable / if they're banned, I don't ever have to wear one)."

In 06 I wanted to vote against the incumbent AK Governor, but knew he wouldn't make it out of the primary. So I crossed lines and voted in the R primary. I voted for the most insulting candidate on the ticket. My choices were between a golden retriever and Sarah Palin. I chose wrong, but right.

I didn't expect her to win the general, and definitely didn't vote for her in it. It seemed pretty obvious to me she was a terrible candidate (and person). I think everyone was just so over Frank that the pendulum swung hard in the primary and got stuck on the far right.

I think I'm with you on that as long as they have easy access to their phones for emergencies such as school shootings. Most bans I've seen don't account for that and insist on no possession of phones during school hours.

Most LEOs I've spoken to say that phones would likely put our children in more danger not less in such a situation due to noises that can reveal location or distraction that makes it hard to focus on what needs to be done. That's an area I would love to see more data on too

statistics are not related to "phone use" but to social media usage, statistics don't generally cover minority and LGBT populations and their use / experience, phones still get used after school, bullying existed before and was dramatically underreported.......

I have no issue with phone use after school particularly if social media use is limited what I have issues with is how every child is thinking all day about when they can check their phone again instead of focusing on work or how every child loses the opportunities for socializing at lunch, etc

- Kids have agency, they're not "losing" the opportunity
- If phone use does cause anxiety and depression, it's bad all the time and a school ban solves nothing. If it does not, then it's theater for parents, not good policy.
- Kids have always been distracted in class by something. Always.
