I do about 50 a year. Primarily audiobooks, some physical. Sometimes walking to/at work, sometimes sitting at home or laying in bed. Fantasy, thrillers, mystery, horror, video game related. All recreational.
I've even read two and a half old encyclopedias last summer purely for recreation, beautifully illustrated and thoroughly outdated. Ships and seafaring (1965), aviation (1964), and half of cybernetics (1972).
Yes, but not many. This was the year I made the jump to reading novels in Spanish, but my Spanish still sucks so it takes me a long time to get through one.
Yes. ✋ I enjoyed it. But then I am fascinated by UK/Ireland history. I understand his hatred for the British press and why Murdoch is going after them.
Yea Crossroads by Jonathan Franzen, Thurston Moore’s wonderful book, currently reading Frankie Boyles novel before the new Murakami arrives. I try, it’s time. I wish I could read more. I’m a teacher with a kid so mostly I read in the holidays.
I’m in a book group and I have shlogged through a couple of those, but I have enjoyed some others. For pleasure, I’m currently reading ROSEMARY’S BABY.
I finished one, and started another. I don't think I'll finish the new one until sometime in the summer but you never know. I've got a holiday coming up and I will take it with me.
Pretty much all of them. “Retired” in April, so I’ll still read personal development books, but none that are job specific (team building, leadership) that I wouldn’t otherwise read.
A little over a dozen I think? Haven’t done my recap for the year yet but I think that’s where it hovers now. I just don’t have the attention I did when I was reading 50+ annually. It’s so hard to focus now
Yes! For several years I would not have been able to say yes, despite reading being one of my favorite things to do, but discovering the Libby app and being able to read library books on my phone for free literally changed my life

I’d like to say I’ll get to one soon but school won’t finish itself.
If you're counting comics - a lot more.
I used to read a lot more, but time and energy these days means it just takes a lot longer to get through things...

Some books are just more recreational than others.
