At some point they need to reconcile this with whatever the Senate pushes through. The final reconciliation bill between the two chambers is what becomes law. Between now and then, people need to press the GOP reps. Keep showing up at town halls. All that's needed is to flip 3 people.
It appears they do. Every day we reach a new low. My daughter is a Medicare participant who gets SNAP. She works hard. She’s kind and honest and pays taxes. She’s just trying to live a modest life and doesn’t deserve this. She has me as a safety net. So many don’t. This is cruel for cruelty’s sake.
Yes. She isn’t eligible for Medicaid even though disabled because she is able to work a limited schedule. I assume that Medicare won’t be far behind if this passes. It’s only a matter of time.
Even if they did, it wouldn't be enough. Johnson could only lose 1 vote, and he did. The other liars voted with him after saying they were a no vote. So, time to eat the rich.
Trump is mental
but the “main problem”, 77 million mostly white

“voters” from the rural red hinterland
are “responsible” for Trump’s deconstructing of the American way of life.
Also 77 million
Will own cuts to Medicaid & food stamps
Sadly a large portion of the 77 million also forgot that they rely on the programs funded by the federal government such as SNAP, Medicaid, etc. They’re not going to be exempt from getting burnt by the fire they set

Who are the 3 democrats missing (NV) ???? They better be on their deathbeds❗️ every single vote matters even if they don’t win-it’s a sign of opposition and unity.

The Byrd Rule is what I'm talking about. Since a budget passed via reconciliation can't add to the deficit, it has to be revenue neutral or "balanced" as it is.
Yes, of course. My reply and citation on reconciliation was due to another in the thread that had asserted that we'd have the Senate filibuster to stop the bill, cuts to medicaid, etc. 🐇
It has nothing to do with balancing the budget. Both the House and Senate have to pass identical budget resolutions, at which point the legislation can be approved by a simple majority in the Senate.
When you pass a budget via reconciliation, it has to be REVENUE NEUTRAL. That means it can't add to the deficit. And that means you can't have the tax cuts they want without the cuts to balance it. The GOP won't have the votes for that.
So see if the DNC had their ACT together the Comms point person would ALREADY be working on social media content and talking points for the news shows content delineating all the ways this bill is going to hurt average working US citizens. And that content would have 50 iterations, 1 4 each state.
THAT's the type of shaping the narrative a DNS Comms point person would be doing IF they had the stuff together enough to have such a position. How this budget would SPECIFICALLY hurt people should be a song on every DNC legislators heavy rotation and the content should be ready made for all the
They got all the votes in at the end. 217-215, the only one who didn't vote, Grijalva, is hospitalized (there's two vacancies - Gaetz and another Floridian).
It’s not going to the senate yet. This vote sends the bill back to the relevant committee which will vote on it to send it back to the full house, which will then go into meeting the Senste to come up with a compromise bill….which will then need to be voted on by both the House and Senate to pass.
The Senate has to pass their own version, then go through a complex reconciliation process, and then that bill is voted on by both the House and Senate.
Sure, but this is going to go on for months — who knows what’s going to pass, if anything. For now, every Republican is on record taking food and healthcare from poor people so billionaires can buy more yachts.
This bill hasn't been vetted by the parliamentarian (anything she says isn't byrd rule acceptable needs more than 50 votes) and the Senate bill will very likely be different from the house bill. So still at least 3 major steps to go (Senate bill, combining both into one, parliamentarian.)
Possibly three Democrats who couldn't get back to Chambers in time to vote. This vote was called after everyone was told they were good to go home for the night.

No matter how awful they are they don’t seem to get blamed by voters in their district, especially when those districts are so heavily gerrymandered

This is a good breakdown of reconciliation and the Byrd rule:
https://democrats-budget.house.gov/resources/fact-sheet/budget-reconciliation-explainer
"The Byrd Rule generally treats as extraneous any provision of a reconciliation measure that doesn’t change the level of spending or revenues."

It's not the same with the budget. It won't pass the filibuster.

Rinse repeat for whatever else they have planned.
Petterson (gave birth a month ago)
Grijalva (recovering from lung cancer)
Everyone but Grijalva made it back. Crenshaw also made it back to vote, final tally was 217-215.
