Looks good, does it show things (pun intended) in the special effects that previously were not noticeable, like strings/wire etc. I remember when news cast switched to HD, they needed to change set design because things were to obvious.
Was thinking of getting this in 4k.
But such an old film thought it may not be worth it as a lot of the older ones come across very grainy.

If I had the time and the money ';d be like Howard Hughes & Ice Station Zebra with the Thing. The original was also superb wasn't it Howard Hawks & Ben Hecht involved who directed? But the '82 with Kurt Russell one of his best along with Big Trouble in Little China.
You'll be pleasantly surprised how the new one was made to tie into it. Was incredibly clever, definitely recommend watching it, as the new one was not a remake at all ;)
I recently learned this movie was a flop and completely panned by critics. I heard some of the reviews from the time and I truly don’t know what movie they watched, because it wasn’t this masterpiece.
Fun fact: the dog acting as the thing is actually half-Wolf, causing his behavior and moment to be slightly different from other dogs, giving people an uncanny sus feeling.
The Thing is the best movie I have ever seen at visualizing the idea that Lovecraft and other describe in writing: "this thing should not exist and anyone looking at it can tell immediately"
I've got it, too. You can compare the 4K stuff to the non-4K stuff on the disc. Incredible. John Carpenter and Kurt Russell do a great audio commentary, also. From what I know, the "Asteroids" game was Carpenter's idea.

Movies like this and Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind are timeless.
