This was my feeling all last week but when I saw Russia wasn’t included in the tariffs, I started to suspect it’s more about opportunities for Trump to extort foreign leaders for his own personal gain over new trade deals, the same way he tried to extort Zelenskyy into investigating the Bidens.

Yeah, it's like you can try to make sense of the tariff war, but only if it's isolation. Trump and his administration are doing so much, going in so many different directions, that there can't be some grand plan uniting it. Searching for one is a coping mechanism to find some order in the chaos
