The house passed an ACA with a public option that got watered down by Loserman and company.

In 2021 The American Rescue Act (passed with a 5 seat majority, 50-50 Senate) had awesome medicaid subsidies that drastically reduced the cost of healthcare.

But that isn’t what poasters want.

Very close. The House and the Senate each developed their own health care bills with a lot of similarities, and each bill passed in its own chamber. The House one had the public option, but there was no way to get 60 votes for it in the Senate. So they had to pass the Senate bill in the House.

There was a subsequent reconciliation bill to tweak the funding on the health care bill, and some people confuse that with, "the ACA was passed by reconciliation". But nope, the ACA had to clear the filibuster in the Senate just like any ordinary bill.

They had a 60-vote majority, just enough to overcome a filibuster. It included Joe Lieberman, who killed the public option. When Kennedy died and was replaced by Brown, Ds lost their filibuster-proof majority. Over opposition from Emanuel, Pelosi passed the ACA, which cut the # of uninsured in half.
