"ai makes art accessible" is an argument i hate to my fucking bones. Art is EASILY accessible, I'd argue it's the cheapest most accessible hobby because all you need is a pen and paper.
"yeah but not everyone has skills" no everyone has the skill, you just need to put in the work

I draw my own art, but there are days my chronic pain is so severe due to work that I can’t pick up a pencil, and yet my only desire is to create.
".. yeah but work is...WORK"
AI is useless to me, I'm too snarky to talk to it and ai for art is boring.
If people can afford a device and internet, they can certainly afford paper and pencils.
Or use free art programs!
There's also so many learning resources you can access FOR FREE on the internet!
I barely see any beginners focus on having fun over the years, rather they focus on trying to gain attention ASAP.
The time you spend *creating* a piece can be an enormous gift to yourself. When someone is so focused on the product they neglect to bring a sense of exploration, play & fun to the *process* they only rob themselves
Movies Are Collaborative Art And We're Doing Fine Without The Fucking Plagarism Machine! You can sell yourself short all you want loser but I have faith in the art community.

Tho let's be real, most people are more enticed by instant gratification than years of grinding on art skill.
Image generators are a crutch and will always be treated as such. Bragging alot for using it is... wild.
But yeah, the perspective of minimum effort and maximum gain is very tempting for many...
Instant gratification ruins the beauty of pursuiting art... or perhaps art in general

I'm more of a take my time finish when I feel like I've got it 100% kinda guy.

One of the things I love doing ever since I was a kid is drawing and designing vehicles & landscapes
The problem with AI is that people today don't want to put out the effort in developing their skills and work on their artworks. It doesn't matter if it looks bad or not...
Cheat codes to win faster? Boring!
And it's not a blurry one or anything, if you go to the account you'll notice that there are people sharing the QR 💀
Can't stand that argument either.
Like there is literally ZERO exuse to use AI.
The next episode Bob painted purely in monochrome.
Anyways, nowadays and with 15 mins, I can do pic one, with pic two being how my stuff looked at age 14.
Hopefully one day this whole ai thing will be over but until then ill try too focus on having fun making art.
"but it's time consuming/takes a lot of effort" And? there's joy in creating and-

Yes, even a shitpost, brainrot, photoshop bashing homunculus done by a human has MORE meaning

A while back Yusuke Murata (the mangaka behind One Punch Man) livestreamed himself drawing the new chapters to an audience of about ~250 people, allowing people to watch his whole process from rough sketch to fully inked panels, all by hand. It was amazing.

if you want to start drawing, genuinely, go for it. art question? feel free to DM me or reply here, I'd love to share my knowledge so we can learn from each other
He's been trying for 3 years (IIRC) and he has since been improving over time, he's around 30 for that matter too.
It's really never late, you'll eventually get better results over time.
AI-generated content *just by itself* has no artistic value. Being "aesthetically pleasing" or "telling a story" are not intrinsically artistic.
Me, for example. I can't must the imagination to draw anything.
Like a wheelchair-bound person can't compete in a common marathon, I can't draw.
Then again, since I can't imagine scenes to ask an AI to draw, it is useless trash all the same :)
Art is about self expression of the artist, about the thoughts, memories and personal experience that artists put into their works.
AI didn't live a life, didn't struggle and didn't ever feel emotions.
This is a fundamental difference between people and machines when it comes to art.
AI cannot create art.
It makes lines without intent, chooses color palettes based on algorithms and places symbols and words ignorantly.
Art is a snapshot of the human soul, a milestone of individual talent and a personal tool to share our deepest emotions.
Thanks for the rant, I needed it.
Like any other skills, you start small. And in fact you can do that as long as your heart desires.
artwork doesnt need to be 'Perfect' or even 'Good'.
drawing, painting, as a hobby... it's done for FUN, for your own personal Creative Expression.
having a robot do it just robs you of the experience instead.
You can only draw stick men?
Ok, do it. draw your lil stickmen.
Give them a little hat if you want.
Arts meant to be fun people!
If it makes you happy then how can it be bad?
The XKCD webcomic has been using this art style for like at least a decade now I think, and it's still a banger.
Tho ai does express one part of those folks and thats not minding others being exploited
using llm slop won't make you better at drawing, it's a waste of your time and an insult to everyone whos work it stole
We live in a parody.
I've also seen the argument of wanting quick visuals for stories/creations. But isn't the whole point of a written story the subjective experience it provides? It's fine to be "forced" to picture the setting in your mind instead of having it beamed into your eyeholes.
Like, people play with their feet if they can't use their hands and stuff. But pro-AI just want results, but not want to actually play. Like musk on path of exile 2.
These chuckle-fucks have never done anything creative in their lives and cannot fathom anyone else doing it either.
"It takes a lot of time, it takes a lot of practice, you have to get really good at an instrument or really good at a piece of production software."
They view everything as a product, a commodity to be sold or traded. No value in the process or thing itself.
I’m not a pro by any means but I’m always proud of what I create 😊
Removing the process removes the core of hobbies. The goal is only max 20% of their value.
Well said!
THEN HIRE AN ARTIST.
You're not creating art with AI. You're receiving art that something else made. It's really just theft with extra steps.

Sorry. 😅
Oh, actually no there are a bunch AND I still credit the artist that drew this even though it’s just a stock wotc mindflayer painting that I edited
Or use Heroforge tbh, it's insane what you can do with that even for free
Or just look for open source or royalty-free pieces. There's a whole cottage industry of artists who release free use works for D&D

And honestly, I want to see Ghibli go after these asshats.
throwing me and others under the buss as an excuse for peopel to steal is vial, because its like saying we are worthless unless we steal
AI is not welcome in the creative realm.
Human artists only.
I went to the Baltimore Art Museum and the student art there will always be better than ai/machine learning.
“Easy” does NOT equate “accessible”. Calling generative AI accessible is just co-opting buzzwords to validate not wanting to learn a skill anyone can pick up
-Sure, it's a luxury, but that's what you're paying for. Someone who's developed a skill and style to bring something to life for you.
-These tech bros will use any lingo to justify "killing the artist".
I'm crap at drawing. But y'know what? I just done abstract paintings insteads and that's totally fine to me.
That's just an excuse that they finds to excuse themselves.
Everyone can do art in a way or another, you just need to motivate yourself for do it.
https://bsky.app/profile/aidenr0.bsky.social/post/3llfltt4jvu2z
Do you mean by a power standpoint or coding?
Don't make blanket assumptions.
AI bad, of course, but the best accessible way of producing art for me is to just do what I'm good at and then pay an artist.
