Yes and no. They can also be the group of military leaders trusted to temporarily govern and bring to trial those they ousted. Think of the military leaders who took control after Gaddafi was ousted before a new permanent government could be put in place (feel free to correct me if I am wrong)
What about the UK where they put the Online Safety Act 2024 which is imprisoning people for having different vies because it is "dangerous" or "harmful".
The failing of democracy in the UK was disenfranchising a large cohort of people who were simultaneously severely impacted by Brexit and almost universally opposed to it (ie those living abroad for more than 15 years).
It’s also the Online Safety Act of 2023 (not 2024).
Your issue appears more about your understanding of free speech than democracy, which is what the post was about. You’re shoehorning an issue you care about into a separate one.
On the other hand, not allowing a huge number of citizens, and some of the most affected by a decision (Brexit), to vote WAS undemocratic. Not only did it “feel like” to those people.
"The phrase 'Someone ought to do something' was not, by itself, a helpful one. People who used it never added the rider 'and that someone is me'." ― Terry Pratchett, Hogfather

Yes, and how many times can a man turn his head
And pretend that he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind.” Bob Dylan
We need to respond to the urgent matter - the Coup taking place. It’s not “downsizing” govt when they have thousands of people “vetted” to take these jobs. They are “replacing” our govt. PROTEST NOW. There’s 50 protests TODAY in 50 States. MASS PROTESTS NOW! https://nypost.com/2025/02/04/u...
Sooo Musk and Friends ended up being the Bill Gates and Soros the Trumpanzees raved and bitched about for years, yet they’re smol pp egos refuse to admit they’re the reason that conspiracy is happening now.

No - that is the point. If you slowly raise the heat they will NOT jump out. They “acclimate” until they die by boiling to death. They would jump out and react to save themselves if the heat came all st once.
That experiment was debunked though. The whole thing about frogs is that they change locations as a thermoregulation strategy—it’s necessary for their survival—they’d leap out as soon as the water got too hot.
I fail to understand who exactly is trump's main vote base. Old people and some young men? That doesn't sound like a big enough demographic for a takeover the likes of which seems to be happening.

Sounds more like a *you* problem.

Also if the government doesn't like what you say and they arrest you, this is not freedom of speech.

345 million population.
22% voted for this.
If the republic survives, or any sort of democracy successeeds it, compulsory, ranked voting is probably something worth looking into.
