FWIW, I left Twitter because of the right wingers and Elon tweets and ads being pushed into my face 24/7.
I, personally, find them useful. They are still in charge, it’s helpful to know what they’re saying, even if it’s garbage. That’s how you know how to counter the talking points or actions.
All I can think is that the intent is to let people see tweets without having to go to the bad place to read them. Less traffic for xitter, less money for Elmo maybe? It doesn't seem to me like anyone associated with the actual public figures is running the accounts. Could be wrong.
i can count on two fingers the number of parody accounts i’ve ever actually enjoyed, and one of them is defunct. the rest get blocked just as quick as the real deal
They are, really. Regular lists, mod lists, starter packs - are all just lists. I even tried to pass a starter pack as a parameter to the API requests that blocks all accounts in a mod list. The call was successful, record was created, so the list was accepted. It didn't block the accounts though.
They're just mirrors, though, you can't actually reply. But sure, I could see why some people might want to see what the regime's official statements say.
Each of those accounts that I looked at said “mirrors tweets” of blah blah account. So they are not government accounts set up for Blue Sky. Instead some elaborate mirror scheme.
I mean, I don't want it, but I could see how someone (say a journalist) would. Allows following the Treasury Secretary without actually being on Xitter.
I don't know, if they really need to follow those they could do it from a burner Twitter accounts. But what do I know, a bunch of them follow Jеssе Singаl from their main accounts here.

They all seem to say "mirror"?
Public service journalism?

If I wanted to follow those assholes, I would.
Gotta block em all.

It reminded me of the, “That Was Easy!” button, but even more satisfying.
That's an easy block
That's the only reason I see just to keep pushing back and showing every single lie.
More useful just to compile them all or at least keep them saved.
We know they'll try to delete their crap when caught.
