I had a 1stSgt that gave the “Ambassadors in Green” speech every time we traveled to another country. In effect, treat every interaction as if it’s the only contact w/ the USA they’ll ever have.
At the EOD, what D’s have is a branding problem (in biz terms), no matter the candidate.
In my moderate D world, 'trust' is still a thing.

In fact this is a primary reason why in the wake of the loss, the left wing of the party sees an opportunity to seize change
