In 2025 I find this abhorrent an absolute blight on the 5th richest country in the world. If I was in power that would be one of my first act to end food banks especially child poverty and to eradicate homelessness. By a 3% wealth tax + a further tax on utilities & supermarkets making ridiculous

I've just read in today's papers that ALL bills are going up this April - Council Tax, rents, water, Internet (which you need as a claimant), electricity, fuel - plus NHS dentistry - how are disabled people supposed to do this on a fixed income, let alone a reduced income?

$7.25 is the national minimum wage, even if you work 40 Hours/wk you are living in poverty. And people under 20 can be paid $4.25/hr for first 90 days. Oh and servers min wage is $2.13.

Now imagine having something like Type1 diabetes, that hinges on what you can eat. Skipping a meal can easily lead to coma and then death.

Yeah, it's only taken me about 7 years to have "good" control over it.
Although "control" isn't really something I have when it's absolutely out my control when and what I eat.
Just as well I don't have other medical issues that complicate it further.

I struggle massively with my son's sensors. They don't last as long as they say, and very often, the moment hasn't been accurate. Nights are out of wack. He's been going with it for 5yrs.

Yeah, nights have always been my biggest failure.
Weather, especially humidity has been really "swingy" for me as well.
I got diagnosed + a 10 minute talk from the nurse about "how to". The day after coming out a coma, not sure how well I retained that + it's all trial/error.
A Kafkaesque trial.
