1975, Nov 19 the IDEA, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, passed. Students with physical and/or intellectual disabilities were often unable to attend public school. After IDEA they were mainstreamed into public education with other students. Students with dyslexia or brain damage.

Anyone with children who are in or have been through an IEP needs to contact their Reps and Senators. Getting a child identified as "gifted" is as important as identifying learning disabilities. Both need specialized teaching methods.
