Cool that all of the big progressive thought leaders are just actively pretending that it wasn't proven that Russia was/is actively running disinformation operations throughout the West, and especially in the US

He must have been 13 in 2016. He can't actually have first hand experience and just retconning to match his priors now. One of the most insufferable people on that side of twitter.
Also, the Trump campaign met with Russian intelligence, publicly asked them to commit espionage on their behalf, and hired a campaign manager that owed Russian intelligence money. It's not like the entire thing was the Steele memo.
Ettingermentum needs to be banned from talking politics. I hate how much he dominates the center left sphere on Twitter and I hate myself for ever giving money to him.
Most folks I've seen aren't saying there was no disinfo campaign. The problem is that liberals tried and failed spectacularly to tie it to Trump. It's a little weird you're acting like people are denying it outright.
Did anything come of it? Would their time and effort have been better spent opposing his policies and dropping their precious decorum to actually obstruct properly? Did they win the war on misinformation?
That's a different question than "Was RussiaGate a serious and damning scandal that largely turned out to be true?" (yes)
But also it actually did turn his first 2 years into nothing but bad news and scandals. Dems won the midterm and then won in 2020. What "policies" should they have opposed more?
you are moving the goalposts to a completely different topic. truth matters. that a lack of solidarity and capitalist interference killed the outrage is irrelevant to the truth.
When people say RussiaGate, they mean the implication that it was done at the behest of Trump. Not sure why anybody would need to clarify that, given that it's a play on Watergate, a specifically POTUS-related scandal. Dems just couldn't resist, and it was a huge waste of time.
No, don't put words in my mouth. It was a waste in that their focus was pinning it on Trump when it would have been abundantly easier to learn to message properly and call out how insanely dumb he and his supporters were. And then they went and lost the fight against misinfo anyways.
If they admit Russia was doing awful shit all along, it means that Russia was indeed trying to make the Email Lady lose in 2016. And that would hurt their feelings.
I mean, the Mueller report was clear that Russia was indeed actively interfering in the election. It just found that there wasn't collusion between them and the Trump team.
Though from memory it found that Team Trump was open to possible collusion.
Also ettingermentum is literally some vapid teenager with a twitter account. It’s insane that anyone would earnestly look to his thoughts about anything.
He's not wrong though. We took a huge L on that, even though we were right about everything. We didn't know what to do when people readily believed the provably false lies over the boring and opaque Mueller report.
Russia gate proved only one thing, that Trump was right that saying the opposite of the truth over and over makes it go away in most everyone’s minds, even though it is still true!

"God I can't believe you babies wouldn't shut up about a long term influence op run by the biggest autocratic kleptocrat on the planet! Talk about not wanting to win an election ever!"
You can’t call a man a Russian agent, a Nazi, and an existential threat to Democracy & then utterly fail to prosecute him, or keep him out of office, & then whisper Welcome Home when he returns to the White House & expect voters to take you seriously. Progressives understand that.
He was not prosecuted on federal charges. The most important ones. And they failed to prosecute the case against him at the ballot box. Blaming the voters is pointless and damaging to Democrats chances in the future.

They then *received* said aid from said hostile foreign dictatorship. And then they did everything they could to cover it up. These are basic facts.

Voters...were the ones to put him the White House despite all of the evidence + Dems jumping up and down tearing their hair out.
Voters were dead-set on touching the stove and there's literally nothing Dems could do to stop them
