For sure, the 2nd watch i caught a lot more and became a fan of the movie, while the first watch i liked longlegs but didn't know what the &%k i just watched
it was definitely entertaining from start to finish, even if there were parts that maybe could benefit from a little more backstory or development, i am always a fan of new stories that are a touch campy, have red film posters (malignant, barbarian, etc) & or have nic cage acting his heart out
I really thought the ending defied any sense of logic. I felt the whole thing fell apart during the interview scene. I was really looking forward to it. Oh, and Cage…🤦♂️ 😂
I thought it was the funniest film of last year. Not saying that to be cruel, but from the scene with the kid shouting for his dad in the shop right up until the end, I was in stitches.
Good question. I did think about this at the time and I thought just someone who was less of a star. A character actor near the start of their career. I just couldn't unsee Cage hamming it up in heavy make-up and it kept taking me out of the movie.
Loved it from the outset. The feeling of absolute dread from the opening scene just set the tone for the entire movie. Very much a "Silence of the Lambs" vibe for me. Definitely in my top 10 for 2024!
The opening scene of him bending down saying he wore his long legs today along with the sudden sound made me think of the shining for some reason but it definitely set it up for me
I thought it started well but was not satisfyingly scary or intriguing. Could see the ending coming, not because it made sense but because it followed too many classic tropes.
Some good ideas, not a good film.
For me anyway. Seems like most people in your replies like it.
Ya it was pretty good! I thought Maika Monroe was a little miscast, I love her but didn’t really work for me in this role. But Nick Cage? Good lord that man killed it.
I don't know if a prequel would solve anything. I get what happened to lead up to the events of the movie. I just think the wrapping up of the story was rushed.
The love stuff is the technical aspects like how it was made and filmed. Like it is a well made film, but ya, the statements behind it are what make me push back against it.
I've always been into social commentary in horror. It's very important to me what a film is saying. It is hard not to see Longlegs as a commentary on Satanic Panic, the whole ban this/that because of demon worship. With that the movie reads as pro Satanic Panic. I really can't agree with that.
I love it. I liked it much more on the second viewing. Perkins is very good about making films where you get the sense that there's real evil in the world he's created.
I just watched it and liked it! Cinematography and score were great and very spooky, casting and acting very good - the writing fell short for me. I needed a little more development on the magic system. Down to suspend disbelief for horror always but this was a lil too much of a stretch for me.
The storytelling was interesting. I like the way they built the suspense. There are a lot of layers to things if you aren't paying attention it's easy to miss small details. The ending was great (clip of long legs being long legs). I liked the cinematography of the film too.
Yeah! I'm planning on rewatching it soon. I just have a list I'm trying to get done. I've got the substance, Abigail, the barbarian, etc. I have TV now. I'm also in the middle of Hallows Eve that introduced Art the clown, the Terrifier. I'm behind haha.
I’ve seen it 4 times since! The performances are insanely good. After how much I enjoyed Blackcoat’s Daughter and now Longlegs I’m fairly convinced I’m going to also love Osgood’s Stephen King adaptation: The Monkey. I am so ready, need to do this soon 🔥
We were split - 1/3 of us loved it, the others either hated it or were not fans. However the only one of us that runs our bsky is the one that loved it, so I'll just say we loved it!
Yes! One of my favorite weirdly enjoyable movies I've seen in a theater (I refused to read or see anything about it beforehand) and one of my favorite odd Nic Cage performances.

Nicolas Cage works in mysterious ways.
I like how unique it is.
Performance by Mr Cage was good in the beginning; kinda fizzled out for me, but I still enjoyed the movie 🤘

Thanks for the reply, trying to get a good solid group opinion on the title, if you have anything at all you would like to add let me know!!!
