I'm frequently told that criticizing democrats "only helps Trump" but does it help him more than giving unanimous consent to his psychotic cabinet nominees so you get a four-day weekend and free trip to Munich does?

They already did "yeah but Valentine's vacation" as their excuse. We already yelled at Chris Coons specifically for Valentine's Day vacation specifically four years ago. They're fully complicit and can't be trusted to obstruct a single damn thing.
I don't know about you, but there's also the fact that Democrats respond to criticism by getting angry, which suggests they're listening and might change direction, while Republicans respond to criticism like they enjoy it and double down while saying things like "cry harder, lib."
Republicans respond to criticism by their base. Their base overwhelmingly supported trump so now they do. The Dems base supports medicare for all and they won't even try that. They support abortion and Dems did nothing to protect that. They will never change direction.
If they're listening, I don't much care if they want to listen. And while listening doesn't guarantee they'll do what I'd like them to, at least they're listening--which isn't nothing (nothing being what I get from the Republicans my fellow North Carolinians have sent to DC on my behalf).
Lucy always gives a reason for pulling away the football, which suggests that she's aware she's expected to keep it in place for the kick and might decide to do so next time.
I'm not sure Charlie Brown ever offers much of a reason he always lets her do it, but it's still obvious why: perhaps he's a fool, but his only choices are to keep trying or simply to give up entirely. There's no realistic third choice presented.
I'm a film critic for fun with a friend on a podcast. We sometimes criticise the films we love moreso than the ones we hate because we want them to be better. We see what's possible.
Where on earth are you getting your 'information' from? *Every single Democratic Senator* voted against Gabbard & the brain worm guy. *All* of them - even that weirdo Fetterman.
I'm getting my information from the immediate past, like the past three weeks, during which many democratic senators have voted for ludicrous picks time and again, granted unanimous consent for no reason, and generally acted like nothing major was happening
No idea what stories you're watching down the rabbit hole but in RW Dems were 100% solid No.
"Kennedy was confirmed... on a mostly party-line vote of 52-48. Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., broke ranks on yet another of President Donald Trump's Cabinet nominees, joining all Democrats in opposition."
my issue is that (most) often this line of blame (which often it is blame more than criticizing) seems to be taken in a way that absolves the repubs from any responsility - like we know evil's gonna evil, but the good guys didn't fight back enough so it's their fault.
I think what’s really important right now is the way we speak to each other. Everyone is so accustomed to speaking in extremes on social media. It’s hard to receive info when people speak with so much rage (which they are justified in feeling). Readers reject the rage & the communication fails.
Right? I don't claim to be very smart, but it seems to me that forcing a vote on every nominee and voting "no" was the easiest possible decision to make.
No, that's kind of the point. Every single right that we -- the people, the working class -- have fought long and hard for was fought long and hard against both parties. The Defense of Marriage Act was passed by Bill fuckin' Clinton. The Dem leadership in CA recently passed homeless harassment laws.
I realize the Dems have primarily been the party finally giving in to those fights, and I appreciate that. But you don't get to just coast on that history for 60 years while you use other rights, like abortion, as a carrot on a stick to tempt voters to keep voting the same people in.
If they keep signaling that they'll only respond to vocal dissatisfaction -- enough that they court people who aren't even in their base before they court the people who are! -- then what else should we do? Smiling and waiting hasn't worked.
At this point, we need to weed out the dems that aren’t here to help. Dems aren’t in control, but we may as well spread the word on who needs to get primaried. It’s something social media would be great for, but we haven’t utilized it to its fullest yet. So yeah, let’s criticize those who failed us.
Well yeah no shit. Best time to plant a tree was 20yrs ago, etc. The era of hoping dems can learn from their mistakes are blatantly over, and more people see it. We have to hold everyone and everything accountable with what we have accessible to us. Play the cards in our hand *well*.

Spreading lies helps nobody.
