“He’s losing money” but is he? Is his lifestyle or his power changing in the direction of someone doing something wrong? It’s like how court/prison isn’t always a deterrent because the super wealthy have very different legal/prison experiences

You would think so, but Elon keeps receiving loud and consistent praise from Silicon Valley people, tech industry people, other business leaders, other billionaires, etc. In this case I think they love what he represents culturally more than they care about money he may be losing.

Oh, he's definitely advancing their agenda. But I don't think they see him as a model to emulate. The dude increasingly acts like someone who's going to be dead in an alley in 12 months. It's possible the fights he's picking with Zuck and Iger and so on are for show, but I don't think so.

Y'know it's funny, in one specific way he's the opposite of Trump. Trump was a financial failure for years but managed to project the image of a winner (still does, for the gullible). Musk is a massively rich guy who has now managed to make himself seem like a huge loser.

Even then I don’t know if it matters. Other guys have killed businesses much faster and more spectacularly and still ended up richer than they were before. Their game is different from ours. They don’t ever lose. They can only win. Destroying things is part of the value they’ve gamed for themselves

My hope is Musk has a similar trajectory with X (lol) which cost 2 orders of magnitude more than MySpace cost Murdoch.

Elon does have a ways to go before he pays off the hefty loans he financed the acquisition of Twitter with.

Loans which were heavily secured with Tesla stock (which is “softening”). He can’t sell stock to pay Twitter’s bills without tanking Tesla, too.

I think more broadly his goal was to kneecap the ability of progressive/leftist movements to organize and communicate. It’s not about any one country or election cycle, just a general desire to run anyone with the “woke mind virus” off the platform.

i feel like he doesn't have that kind of reach. beneath everything, even with all of his money, he's pretty lame. Add in that "reality has a bit of a liberal bias" and I think conservative messaging can only get traction by essentially disabling the scales.

That's the problem when you have money hoarders in control of most of our world. We don't have any power because everything has been set up to give power to those with money. This is why keeping money equally distributed throughout society is the best route to true freedom.
