Also where some of the technical competencies will sit. The Wade-Gerry review led to the merger of the arms length bodies which includes substantial tech development & upkeep that’s essential for everyday services like the NHS App.

He’s appt the very respected CEO of Newcastle NHS Trust, Sir Jim McKay who oversaw NCL buy itself out of its crippling PFI contract and turned around a struggling trust into the highly regarded entity it is today.

Getting GPs to do their jobs and actually meet patients as they did pre-covid would be a start. Most are working from home. Plus it takes 3 weeks or more to get a telephone appointment. No wonder A&E is collapsing.

Linking the annual capitation fee paid to GPs to actually seeing the patient would be another idea. GPs get paid whether they see you or not. In Israel (for example) no consultation with a patient that year then no fee.

That would shake things up here.

It won’t if it is chronically underfunded for 14 yrs & has to deal with a one in a hundred yr pandemic as well
