I don’t watch Ballerina Farm, but I’ve watched videos talking about her and they showed a clip of her just walking up to a cow and squeezing some milk into a cup and drinking right there. No sanitation or anything.
You can tell how she grew up from that alone..... There's cow shit in raw milk, there's also cow hair/fur, pee, bugs, bacteria, soil, grass, and I think cow cum too! The folks commenting about growing up on a farm knew better for a reason!
I can't wait until they start having multiple hospitalizations and deaths, and then Brain Worm suggests gently heating the milk to a certain temperature to kill the bacteria.
When I was 7 I read in Redbook or Reader's Digest, a (probably fake) cautionary tale about a toddler drinking Drano from an unlocked undersink cabinet...the description of what happens was enough to freak me out for years
oh it happens and it is literally as bad as whatever you read.
there was a case where someone was accidentally served concentrated cleaner. he obviously spat it out the moment he tasted a drop but it was still enough to well, you already been knew.
not so fun fact about antivax parents and those that believe autism is curable....they give their kiss bleach fucking enemas. and horrid shit happens to their children, including the fact that BLEACH MIXED EITH WATER IS BEING SOLD AS A HEALING DRUAGHT TO THEM.
Exactly the reasons, when I worked at a dairy farm, when I was younger, I refused to drink raw milk, which the owner of the farm allowed my stepfather to get!
there are many libertarians who are fully aware that it's stupid, but they also think it's an expression of their individual freedom to die doing stupid things.
ok but like, i can get why ignorant people would be anti-vax. its weird, sciency stuff they can't be bothered to learn. and since they are already vaxxed and grew up in a post-vax world they don't know how bad it used to be.
Also in worst cases worry about brucellosis and tb
Eon's babies are busy dismantling inspection and agriculture
So we can expect lots of the uglies we've been protected from to emerge out of the past
It came from the whole Covid vaccine push. Ppl felt the government was overreaching and they tried to find other ways the government was overreaching. There was an outcry bcz the gov makes it illegal to sell unpasteurized milk. The gov is preventing us from drinking milk with good bacteria in it.
100%. Also there’s other ways to get good bacteria without risking your life. I have family members who go out of their way to illegally buy unpasteurized milk it’s insane.
I live in Ontario, CA. There USED to be a lot of dairies out here. 20-30 years ago. It STILL smells like cow shit on a hot day. I would NEVER drink raw milk. 🤢
It is, but no one under the age of 5 or over the age of 75 or with _any_ immune impairment should be going anywhere near it, and even then you're rolling the dice on the occasional bout of the bloody shits.
Yeah, no. You’ll never catch me drinking milk raw or otherwise but, if you’ve ever tasted cheese from France made from raw milk, you’ll know why I’m never giving it up.
(and it’s eaten by every people of every status over there)
The idea that heating milk is somehow destroying the milk is just bonkers to me. I think sometimes what they think they want is not what they want and what they really want is just, non-homogenized milk so they can see the milk fat or some
Thing? Are they super confused or just not bright??
The trouble is the conflation of "processed food" as in "cheap scraps of leftovers mixed with 50% salt and preservatives" with "processed" stuff like pasteurized milk and canned tomatoes.
You’re spot on. I mean, don’t we process food as soon as we brush the dirt off and chop it and cook it? Milk heated to the right temp to kill disgusting things that can kill you is not bad :p
THERE IS NO BETTER MILK TO DRINK THAN THIS. DRINK THIS AND YOU WOULD NEVER WANT COFFEE OR TEA.
WHOLE MILK --- IT DOES A YOUNG BODY GOOD.

WHEN THE MILK IS POURED INTO THIS COOLER, IT IS FILTERED TO THE "Nth" DEGREE AS MILK CAN BE.
LEAVE THE MILK IN THIS FREEZABLE COOLER OVERNIGHT.
NEXT MORNING, GET A CLEAN CUP AND HAVE IT FILLED WITH THIS ALMOST FREEZING, FRESH WHOLE MILK WITH TINY SLIVERS OF [MILK]ICE IN IT.

THIS IS THE VERY BEST MILK A CHILD [OR ADULT!] CAN POSSIBLY TASTE AND DRINK:
MILK THE COW, POUR ALL THE MILK FROM THE BUCKET INTO A VERY LARGE COOLER FOR THIS PURPOSE -- WHOSE TEMPERATURE IS LESS THAN 40 degrees.
I spent 3 years on a ranch in North Texas. At 16, I rode Rodeo with professional stock bulls. I rode horses recreationally. I raised a pig to 240lbs for market. ... And I milked cows:

The real question: how much time have you spent sitting on the bathroom floor in the middle of the night, liquids coming out of both ends, with the phone next to you in case you need to call 911 before you pass out?
Bailed hay and worked on a dairy farm when I was super young... and yep. Cows can be some of the nastiest fucking animals ever lol. Its not their fault. they just shit... ALL of the time...
Pasteurizing milk is the easiest, most common sense shit you can do.
Grew up in a farm.
We had a milk cow - Clementina - for the family (7 kids).
Mom would always boil the milk before serving it to us - otherwise it was nasty. A couple of times I skipped it when our dog, a hulking st bernard, would get his snout and drink off the bucket.
These people know nothing.
My grandparents had cows and used them for milk. It was off limits to drink that stuff until it had been boiled. Everyone around the cows knew it was a risk to drink the stuff before having it boiled, so we wouldn’t. Who knows why anyone nowadays would want to take a risk with raw, untreated milk.
Exactly. Plus the only difference is no germs.
I get the fancy heating below boiling for a longer time, but we just boiled until it foamed up. Once it chilled it formed a cap of fat that we churned - shook in a jar until it thickened - and spread it over quince jelly. Doesn't get better.
I used to bike past a well run, family-owned dairy farm and, lemme tell you, I didn't even want to breathe within half a mile of it. I'd always pray the wind was in my favor (blowing towards the dairy) for that stretch of the ride. Cow shit is powerfully nasty.
Exactly. My dad, a farmer, used to bring the fam to his buddy’s family dairy when they went on actual vacation. We got to work. I adore cows and calves (my job was bottle feeding the babies), but they are shitville. Even on the dairy, no one would drink raw milk. These folks crazy.
Just tiny farms here. I'm sure an industrial operation is a completely different story but the smell of just a few farm animals scattered here and there is really not that bad! (though my city bred spouse would disagree!)
My late father grew up on a small dairy farm and, yeah, I never had a lot of illusions about the process, although he did kind of teach me to appreciate people with sensible grazing and pasturage practices.
And by "near a farm" I mean "there's a farm a mile or so away". It's well out of sight; can't see a hint of it.
But lemme tell you when it's spring, everything's opened up, and the wind's going in the right direction even a little bit? You KNOW it's there solely by the smell.
I think if a lot of people were exposed to life on a farm with animals, they’d never drink raw milk or eat meat ever again. I firmly believe that if one eats meat, one should witness the process of harvesting of the meat they eat.
Yeah, I have a gluten intolerance and even then I'm not a fan of wheat products so I tend to eat meats more often but of course I eat veggies. Fruit I can't eat raw, allergies. That said I'm aware as well, and I try to buy my meat and dairy from farms that treat their animals humanely.
Same thing with raw water. Have you guys ever seen a lake let alone a river? Both are quite a bit dirtier than you'd think. You like that? Fish shit in that water. Bears shit in that water. Bikers and hikers piss in that water. And you want to drink it unfiltered???
Don't even get me started on 'spring water' that's unfiltered. It's full of minerals. Bad minerals! Tastes like dirt too. But the dirt taste is probably seen as organic and healthy knowing them.
I got absolutely pilloried by commenters on TikTok just because I pointed out that it was nasty that an outdoors influencer dipped his toothbrush directly into a mountain pond and then put it in his mouth.
I had an ex who used to do this and the one year camping he did it then we hiked up stream
And found a dead elk carcass in the water. He never did it again.
There was a famous incident where Fiji water advertised using the slogan "Because it's not bottled in Cleveland." So Cleveland tested Fiji water and found that it had lower water quality than Cleveland's
you mean like right out of the spring? cause I could see that. pretty sure there's fluoride (good) and and shit in the spring water you get at the store tho. I dont think it's "raw." I've never even seen water marketed as "raw." is that even a thing?
I made a water filter with a partner in chemistry class that filtered a container of water from a local river our teacher collected himself. And let me tell you.. The water was completely purified but at first, it looked absolutely disgusting. The water was green and had stuff in it I think. You
This so true. And also…I can’t stop laughing.
Goats are cleaner, but even after you get the bucket inside, strain it, and leave it in the fridge until it is really cold, it still smells funky.
Friends of mine live in a Dairy Town up the road, they are basically in the center of town, far from any of the pastures...you can still smell the Cow Shit.
Cow udders are cleaned and disinfected before and after being milked. This is for the cow's health and safety, and ours.
I still wouldn't drink raw milk, but there isn't cow poop in the milk being sold in shops.
Look, you can politely explain that drinking unpasteurized milk is dangerous, but it’s like explaining to a 4 year old that there is no Santa Claus. No matter how sincere you are they won’t believe you. 🤷🏽♀️ So let them drink their raw milk. #FAFO
I don't think the rich have any right to buy our food at all at this point. According to the Court we can all refuse to do business with anyone for any reason.
Or how about we just stop consuming dairy? Milk contains poo, pee puss, germs & is not designed for adult humans. Bad for the environment, intrinsically cruel & likely to cause future zoonotic pandemics. Not worth it especially as we don’t need it to be healthy. #Vegan #PlantBased
"But what did we do before pasteurisation ?"
Yoghurt, cream, butter, cheese, ...
Anything but raw milk. Why do you think all those dairy products were invented ?
Researching our old house we found that one family lost two daughters - one to the 1918 flu the other to TB from contaminated milk fresh off the farm. She was the main earner of the family and due to be married the year she died.
While I don't have any proof this is related, I doubt it's a coincidence that the old-timey-feeling thing to have at nighttime is a "warm glass of milk". We currently think of it as normal to drink milk cold, but heating it up would probably have made it safer pre-pasteurization.
didn't some big-name artist at Marvel die from drinking raw milk back in the 80s? Don something, Todd Macfarlane ended up taking over his job after he passed.
I am a country boy, this is why I scold these fools wanting raw milk. No, you don't as there's absolutely no health benefits but y'all gonna get deathly sick of of that shit.
I think the whole movement behind raw milk is linked to the movement behind raw yogurt. You're not supposed to pasteurize yogurt. Thing is, yogurt isn't raw and it's controlled spoilage. The good bacteria kill the bad germs. There's no such thing behind raw milk.
True. I grew up around ranches (not on one, but even Billings, Montana, lots of school trips to farms and ranches, friends’ families’ ranches on weekends. Cows are some inefficient eaters and there’s a lot of shit. Boots are called “shit kickers” for a reason.
I grew up on a farm, and we all drank raw milk. But this is essentially correct. However, udders are disinfected prior to milking (we even did so when we hand milked our cow). The problem is worse for people who *don't* grow up on farms & aren't exposed to that constant barrage of germs & antigens.
Had the same upbringing, but the milk was fresh, like we consumed it w/in 12 hours. No one driving to a farm and back home, will consume it w/in the same time line. Unpasteurized Bug colonies will grow in that time period..
True. I grew up in a village and we used to get milk from the farm next door in a little milk can. There's cow hair in it and other stuff you don't want to think about. My Mom filtered and cooked it before use. You want pasteurization. I for sure do.
I'm not a fan of cows.
They shit on each other too.
They just shit all the time & they're nasty.
And I'm use to animals & shit.
Yes, everything in this post is true.
In a lot of countries, it isn't. (Like Canada, for instance. But even here there are dipshits who want to drink it so there's literally a black market for the stuff. My friend is an organic farmer and she told me about it once. Crazy stuff.)
If that is true in the US, I pity you all even more. Our neighbors, literally, are cows, and they have so much space to roam, there is zero reason for them to be covered in shit. TBF, the farmer next door does veal, but the closest dairy farm is no different. Vive la France, I guess. ;-)
French here : as my granduncle used to said "cheese is not the same since they dont let the cow piss in the bucket".
He use to raise pigs, in his youth. Nice, (very) free range pigs.
He always boiled his milk.
Even the UHT one.
Or maybe market farmers with half a dozen goats for milk <=> cream, butter, cheese, and meat.
But OK, you know who is intelligent (you) and "dumb ass" (them)
Ain't it weird that that's the only place they tend to grow? Well not the only place but they specifically need cow pies in order to grow to maximum potency.
You dont even need to see the cow shiet to understand . Just getting a whiff of the shiet, even without seeing it on the bovine will make you realize immediately why raw milk is bad.
I watch hoof trimming videos and every so often they answer questions like "Why don't you wash off the feet before trimming?" The answer is always some variation of "Cows are dirty so it's not worth it unless we need to clean it to help find a problem."
So basically if you plan to work with cows, no matter what job, you go in expecting to deal with shit (slurry) and at some point being covered in shit.
My mom used to get a bottle or two of raw milk from the farm, she would strain it through some cloth, boil it and then strain it again. It was nice, but I never got more than a mug at a time because too much could give you a belly ache.
While some raw milk cheeses are “safe”, it isn’t by the same reasoning. If the milk hasn’t been heated sufficiently to kill bacteria it’s not pasteurized. If it has been heated, it isn’t raw.
Pasteurization is the precise application of less heat than boiling is more of the flavor and nutrients can be preserved while keeping the germ killing effects of heat. Pasteur was actually trying to figure out how to preserve wine without boiling the hell out of it.
When I was a kid, I got to go visit a dairy farm. They had a little dipper filled with iodine, and they'd go down the line dipping each teat in it before slapping on a suction cup. That was basically all the hygiene.

also yeah, there are people who are doing that lol (at home pasteurization)
like yeah, I know libertarian losers are a thing and I can get that, but how can you *want* cow shit in your milk?
Consequences are only for the sheeple
But raw milk makes you shit yourself or worse

They think the more processing steps added between the animal and them means the product is worse despite the fact those steps exist for a reason

Can't we just sell raw milk to rich people as a premium all organic superfood?
And then just watch them fire out of both ends until they kick the bucket?
Wouldn't that be hilarious and a huge win for all of us?
I worry about the kids they give it to.
Same with vaccines; the adults are less likely to be the ones who suffer. The kids do and they don’t have a choice in the matter.
I do the same thing to medical equipment as part of my job
It just sounds complicated 'cause it's named after a french guy :)
And by "near a farm" I mean "there's a farm a mile or so away". It's well out of sight; can't see a hint of it.

the amount of little single-celled and other microscopic organisms squirming around in there made her never want to touch the creek again

Best case scenario, money can let you unhappily prolong your suffering.

(kisses fingertips!)
My Cleveland dad met my mom while stationed at an airbase near the farm in Nebraska during WWII.
He recounted that some of the city guys from NYC etc. didn’t even know milk came from cows!
The more you know, I guess.
They shit on each other too.
They just shit all the time & they're nasty.

I was objecting more to the "covered in shit" hyperbole. And the not in the same zipcode.

I looked after a 🐄🐮🐄 herd in rural New Mexico.
The rate at which cows convert weeds to shit is epic.
And it's got the consistency of softserve🍦 when it emerges like a steaming babyhead from their enormous pooters.
Gets EVERYWHERE.
Do not eat raw milk from the poobeasts. 💩💩💩❗️
"Some raw milk, perhaps?"
But it's important to remember that, however much they may deserve (or "deserve") the fate they're walking into, their children do not.
