You could file for unemployment, but there's a good chance your identity was used during the pandemic for false claims which they won't fix.
But I had said that. My point was that that university as well as many employers will actively seek the loop hole of any law to pay their employers less. Even if the law benefits the most, employers can still screw people.
I love how paying people reasonable wages for their skilled work is always portrayed as a negative part of doing business in this country.

It affects postdocs the most. The grant-funded postdocs have salaries right on that border.
