It's weird to me that this is the second most quoted thing of mine on the Internet (the first being "The failure mode of 'clever' is 'asshole'"). This particular quote isn't from a book or web post of mine; it's from an interview, and (yes) slightly out of context. But people seem to like it! Okay!

How beautiful would that be written on an image of a sunset at the beach.
"White men are playing the game on easy mode." one.
But that one's nicer.
"Most grenades aren't soaked in syrup."
"Maybe they should be, we'd see a lot more selfless acts."
Not from an IP POV, obviously, but...
The failure modes of clever are actually 'not clever', 'partially or insufficiently clever', 'intermittently clever', 'cleverness degrades over time', and 'too clever'.
The *effect* of some of the failure modes is 'asshole'. π
My grandfather used to say, "Son, clever is the opposite of smart." and sometimes "Clever may have teeth, but smart has legs."
(Also a fun book! :-) )
So be it. Ok, I'll roll my sleeves up and try and make it better.
My dad always told me life isn't fair. It isn't. But your attitude can level your bad and good luck a lot.
