I am repeating that I am fully aware that Francis was from Argentina, but he also took a vow to abstain from TV in 1990 that he took so seriously that he never even watched another football match so I’m assuming he just missed the DBZ wave entirely.

I'm pretty sure Francis knew who Goku is, by osmosis of being argentinian. It was a big series here since the mid 90s. My parents know who Goku is (and they're around their 60s)
