I had planned to fly to Reagan National Airport for a vacation in December 2024. I decided I wasn't going to fly there under the Trump administration. But I got an unexpected invite to the VP's (Kamala Harris's) residence right before that so shifted that later trip to 2025. I'm not going now.

It's not going to be of *much* help to you but planes are still overwhelmingly safe compared to driving, and Mr Trump's impacts on aviation safety are probably going to be felt in the future, rather than directly contributing to this incident.

That said, it'll be "interesting" to see how much independence the NTSB gets in investigating this crash, or if it will find itself disproving the latest conspiracy theory someone like Mr Musk reads about on social media. Likewise if the investigation comes up with recommendations...

It happened within a week of me saying WTF is going to happen to the FAA, he’s going to get people killed. I didn’t expect it to happen this soon but I was relieved post election that I booked my last flight before inauguration. And I already told my husband we’re not flying the rest of the year.

Knowing that my fear of flying was *mostly* irrational was the only reason I could (occasionally) fly. I knew flying would inevitably be more dangerous under incompetent leadership but I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly.

I’m with you Leah. I am afraid of heights and take off damn near kills me. I’ve learned to silently chant Hail Mary until the “10K” ding goes off. I research the planes to ensure I don’t fly those Boeing crashers. Scheduled a therapist appointment for this Friday.

We just scheduled a month long trip to Scotland for this summer. Those are two long plane flights. 😭 I almost said I didn’t want to go, but I really love Scotland.
