Bourbon whiskey was excluded from the list after lobbying efforts to avoid further U.S. countermeasures. The tariffs will be phased in throughout 2025.
This is the case with a lot of American foods that have toxic chemicals, preservatives, & dyes. Mostly sugary (& diet) snacks, sodas, & candies. Anything that is toxic for humans to eat is illegal here.
Food is a lot cheaper. healthier & fresher here. I just bought some ground beef, got to pick the cut of steak they ground up in front of me for €4.98/kilo ($2.46/lb US Dollar). The USA blends together hundreds of cows, adds bleach, additives & preservatives. EU food is cheap & healthy.
I never thought I’d be rooting for a foreign country to sting us, but I prefer to have the sting be received so DJT realizes that he’s not the only one who has🏀🏀’s…so stay strong EU
Oh yes! This isn’t a darn game…& look forward someone👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼his face on both sides…in court!

I would but the odds are high red hat wearing Trump voters walk into those places to take advantage of the socialism & generosity of those of us who told them this would happen. I’m not helping those fuckwads. I’ll take my charity directly to people who need it who did not vote for this disaster.
He took everything out of her arms, nearly groping her to take her items, despite her request to let her set them down on the counter. He then scanned everything (while giving her dirty looks), and refused to let her touch the machine until he was done.
I convinced her to report it, but she would only request that someone speak to the clerk about the behavior. She didn't want the guy fired, just wanted better behavior.
The manager replied that the clerk was probably just trying to help. Not even "sorry about the groping".
That list of celebrities is absolutely pathetic. Will not be hard to avoid. Have to admit Mark Wahlberg was a surprise, but I don't really pay attention to what he says. The boycotts will be easy as I either stopped years ago or never started.
Google? I have always enjoyed the useful tools that the big G "gives" us. I have swapped my browser to Firefox but I still prefer a google search, perhaps because it knows so much about me. I refuse to use Meta, did use Twitter till 6 months ago.
I live in MAGA country. These people will gladly piss in their own faces then blame democrats for being soaked in urine. They did this during COVID. Even now, there are people in this community who have not only remained steadfastly MAGA, they’ve found new depths within their batshit rabbit hole.
Hiya neighbor. I'm about to hop in my truck to go buy ice cream and vapes. Need anything while I'm in town? LOL geez it's crazy being a blue dot in a sea of red.
This is why I don’t see America as United. If anything, there are broadly 2 americas and I don’t think they will ever be on the same page on most of the issues this administration has touched.
The state of EU/US relations on January 19, 2025 may never be recovered in our lifetimes, but the fever will break at some point.
When it does, the EU will want to be on good terms with the portion of the US which (a) did not vote for this, and (b) generates 70% of the country’s GDP.
If *only* the tariffs affected red voters.
Sadly, they won't; they will affect all Americans; whether we voted for that mango-faced motherf**ker or not.
I don’t take any joy in it either . But, while I sigh when Trump voters express unhappiness/regret and wish we all weren’t in this situation. But, I save my actual empathy for those who didn’t vote for him and are suffering
Good. I live in a red state, but will gladly watch DeSantis and his clown car of robber barons try to sell the pain to the MAGAt dumbasses here who will suffer.
Even though I shouldn’t eat ice cream, I would really miss it and I live in a red state so I guess I’m gonna be missing it! Worth the sacrifice to get rid of these assholes!
I live in a purplish part of Ohio and I can honestly tell you that people will be waiting in line at UDF for ice cream when it's -10°. This will make minds explode around these parts.
Every country focusing their tariffs to disproportionately affect the red states would be a very effective strategy to inflict the most pain on the people who put Trump in office.
Perhaps registered republicans and non voters should bare all the costs incurred from tariffs and not democrats or independents…. Just show all the same documentation as required to vote for determination.
Red state Kamala voter here. Not all folks in red states voted for this mess. Red states usually have a blue metropolitan area and the red rural areas. There are also several red states in the South with a high Black population that did not vote for this.
I’m sympathetic to your situation but your state went for Trump as did mine (PA). And like your state, there are 3 areas in PA that are typically Blue - PGH, Philly & Centre County (where I live). So I’m ok punishing the a-holes in PA who proudly displayed their Trump signs. There were lots of ‘em.
To the few Dems in red states, I hope they can find a way to move to their closest blue state. I appreciate the EU considering that Blue states didn’t agree with any of Trump’s bs.
I wish China also specified the Red states. May every country defending themselves, know who to target over tariffs.
Trump flinched and is pausing the tariffs for 90 days. The EU and the American people need to continue the pressure. A country united cannot be defeated!
The trouble with being surrounded by yes-men is that Trump overestimates his ability to extort leaders of other countries and no one reigns him in. He is heedless of details, potential consequences or long term implications.
He's a poker player with a stacked deck. But the other players see the con
Let's hope Trumps new Tariff message makes no difference to any reciprocal tariff polices. Exclude Trump + his MAGA/Nazi government from the world stage as much as possible.
It wont matter much, almost everyone in Europe are now avoiding buying American products, unfortunately that will hurt States that did not vote for Trump. But the European people have joined in with Canada...and Canadian whiskey is almost sold out here...This will open a massive market for Canada!
It’s okay that it will hurt us in states that didn’t vote for Trump. (California girl here) We are okay with being completely destroyed economically. It will help shift the narrative away from “republicans are good for the economy” and maybe we will get some decent policies in the future.
So many great whiskeys from the EU and Canada, the only reason to choose US.made would be for price I assume (I've never been a US whiskey guy, JD tastes nasty to me - like alcoholic pancake syrup 🤢).
I'm 57, I do not expect that we'll recover from this during my lifetime. What I do expect is a full blown depression.
I know how to hunt, forage, garden, can, cook, bake. I already do all this stuff. I mill grain into flour, sift it, I can make any bread.
Most people do not know all this stuff.
Once NAZI Trump and the NAZI MAGA regime is gone you will recover much of what was lost....however i fear Trump is about to do something much worse, like invading Canada and Greenland...If he does that USA will completely disband and fall apart.
I agree with you that many people don’t know how to do these things. The rest of us who do can teach those willing to learn (and maybe just those who didn’t get us into this mess). Those of us little people here are used to surviving and getting by. Those near the 1% will have to change everything.
It's going to be hardest on the wealthy, they have never done real work. These people have been served all there lives by the poor. The poor will turn their backs on them.
I know that everything that isn’t on the coast is red. But those counties hold significantly less people than those of us who live near the cities. There are still more of us who vote blue than vote red. I’m okay with us tanking economically and I’m ok with maga farmers here suffering.
I don’t think they even need to do that. Trump, Vance and Musk have caused so much hatred amongst the people, everyone I know here in Europe is trying to avoid buying US goods.
Check the tourism industry in a couple of months and you’ll see.
Don’t forget the lift kits, giant tires, glass packs, gun racks, light bars, hood scoops, tow hitches, and every other accessory they use as a substitute for having an actual personality.
Add those terribly sickeningly sweet Krispy Kreme glazed donuts to that list. (I love Willem Dafoe but couldn't resist this funny pic) This is Florida!
Have you been to Florida? I worked for a guy who had one of those horrid Krispy Kreme glazed donuts every day with a Camel & an extra-large black coffee. The dude was like working for Jack Nicholson in The Shining.
Fair point about the parts. But Biden heavily incentivized auto manufacturers from abroad to use American facilities, and there's a ton of them here now, many in "red" states.
So, awkwardly, Biden's policies seem to have somewhat protected Trump voters from Trump's policies.
So, let’s say Michigan has a Dem governor and other politicians, but voted for trump. Does that make us a target of the EU and China’s targeted tariffs? 🤔
ooh! i know this one!depends on the state and the store but in seattle they can be around 15 bucks a pack. red states have always seemed to keep them pretty cheap in comparison, under ten dollars.
Awesome! - the only problem is that the Welfare Red States full of white trash already are parasites on the rest of the beautiful productive Blue States. They will just have their hand out even more now.
I lived in Germany for a few years around the turn of the century (I love saying that). Unless things have changed drastically since then, I doubt such tariffs will have much impact. I knew of ONE US-manufactured pickup truck in Leipzig. One. (It was owned by the leader of the local neonazi youth.)
Canada too. One of the most popular vehicles in North America is the Ford F150, made in the US. These are suddenly priced out of the market in Canada due to the tariffs.
Out of 700,000 made in 2023, 120,000 were sold in Canada. That means, with the tariffs, a potential market loss of 17%.
Of course not, but knowing many Red State Dems, they’re saying «Bring it on, if it will help end this nightmare» of Republicans ruining all of our lives. Personally, I’ll take a lot of pain to bring science, foreign aid and justice back.
Excuse me? It is really not easy for some people to just pick up and move to another state. Not sure what is stupid about saying that, or how you fail to understand that.
I’m sorry for you that RFK just killed public health agencies that fight tobacco companies at CDC and FDA. The tobacco companies would rather take a hit by absorbing the tariff than raise their prices since that’s one of the most effective anti-smoking interventions.
The EU once again having 0 balls. One should think facing the current situation and being crushed between us and Russia they'd grow some but no.
Heres how to hurt the orange fuck: stop buying USD bonds, tax Meta, Apple, Alphabet, X heavily and I'm talking in the double digit billions. Shutdown Tesla
Fijn dat er sommige Amerikanen begrijpen dat de wereld groter is dat het land van de narcisten die de wereldeconomie en de wereldvrede in groot gevaar brengen.
I'm very impressed with how the EU and Canada are not lashing out like Trump but strategically and surgically striking back at the voters and reps who are responsible for the trade war. If the rest of the world copies this they might be able to effectively bankrupt the corrupt Republican party.
Red state constituents generally don’t even know how much federal funding the state refuses. You can’t tell me that they’re going to understand the nuance of them being taxed specifically.
Growing up in Oklahoma and Texas has sure given me and interesting perspective on all of this. As a reformed bible thumping radical I can tell you that there is hope. Though that only sparked when Mattis resigned as SECDEF. As a millennial the younger generations are kind of scaring me a bit. 😂
Im Gen X so I understand your worry.
I don’t want violence but something has to give or that’s where we are headed. I have no problem with people doing their own thing as long as they don’t force others. People who weaponize the Bible make me nutso. I was raised Catholic but I’m a Woke so….😊
No joke here but I have never seen a US truck on a European road other than those tank carriers on manoeuvres in Germany
Smoking is a dying habit (pun intended)
Ben and Jerries and Baskin Robins are a bit thin on the ground.
I had a long conversation w/a driver in London. He said he’d love to buy a big passenger van & some suburbans but they 1 are too large to drive through the city and 2 they’re simply cost prohibitive. SUVs & trucks are not a European market, moreso small economy cars & Europe makes plenty of those.
Same with their meat and chicken, cheap yes but full of additives. I can get cheap meat and chicken here already but at least it’s only full of water. You pay for what you get and in Europe I can get good quality beef and chicken at an affordable price and I know it is safe to eat.
When we had family visit, you wouldn’t believe the comments about how chicken and eggs taste so much better. Always impressed with the produce. Then when they got home they lamented to lack of quality ingredients. It’s kinda wild tbh. My avocados came from Israel and I was 100% okay with that.
There are Trump voters in blue states and Harris voters in red states. It’s awesome living in a red state where you know the state leaders will do nothing to protect people from trump. We’re out here fighting
Still waiting for the EU to hit the digital sector, for the moment even before this , american companies basically not paying any taxes in countries they do business in...maybe the EU will actually do something to amazon/msft/google/meta ect this time
My guess is consumers in the UK, EU + Canada are already boycotting US products....Trump has alienated US allies both by his military abandonment and his stupid tariff war.
It’s true. I’m in Canada & I’m seeing people avoid everything American. I do.
Since January I’ve only bought 3 American things (celery, & 2 heads of Romaine lettuce). I’ve since found Mexican supplies. So now I’m nearly 100% off USA goods.
That isn't a boycott exactly - they got pulled by the government from our liquor stores (which are government run in Canada)
But there is a boycott also, and it's big and it's working. Every ad I see is either a local business bragging about being Canadian or a big US company begging us to buy lol

Now, now, that’s not nice. (FAF, but not nice)
Wait, they are still free right? Hugs didn't get tariffed as well did they?!

An autistic woman I know went to use the self checkout (avoids social interaction) and a (WM) clerk blocked her from the counter.
Other customers were also waiting for help.
The manager replied that the clerk was probably just trying to help. Not even "sorry about the groping".
In a blue state.
It amounts to collateral damage due to Trump's incompetence and arrogance.
We in America should continue to boycott billionaires who support Trump.
When it does, the EU will want to be on good terms with the portion of the US which (a) did not vote for this, and (b) generates 70% of the country’s GDP.
Sadly, they won't; they will affect all Americans; whether we voted for that mango-faced motherf**ker or not.
Hitting them where it really hurts.
But your elected reps need to feel the pain, fear the consequences.
We aren’t going to roll over just to save a few Dem voters in red states.
#ElbowsUp #GlovesOff #Canada
I hope it’s over soon.
I wish China also specified the Red states. May every country defending themselves, know who to target over tariffs.

Blue states enable the idiot decisions that these red states are famous for.
125% tariffs, BABY!
Give me Collingwood or Crown Royal
I know how to hunt, forage, garden, can, cook, bake. I already do all this stuff. I mill grain into flour, sift it, I can make any bread.

(I didn't know they even made whiskey, just bourbon and rye).
So good.
It's fucking close to water.
Check the tourism industry in a couple of months and you’ll see.
Sorry for all those who didn’t vote for this!
They also park a lot of international car manufacturers in TN to catch financial incentives from Biden.
Wouldn't pin too much hope on counter tarriffs hitting "red" states that hard.
I have some friends living in NJ.
Here in Northeurope we love Cinnamon buns.
So, awkwardly, Biden's policies seem to have somewhat protected Trump voters from Trump's policies.

Will the S&P drop to 4,000?
Will history label the tariffs as Bigly BooBoos?
What do you think?

Right on.
Bahaha hahaha haha 😭😂😭🤣😂
I hope they starve!
Glad that the world knows Red states are responsible for the chaos & problem in the US!
Canada isn’t out of the woods yet either…
We have the older generations group.
The younger gun generation group
And of course the Bible thumping group.
The one thing they will all complain about is money. Just in different forms depending on group
