People are so weird about The Criterion Collection. It's a boutique label. They distribute films they want. Sometimes they get a title, sometimes they don't! Sometimes they're classics, sometimes they're new!
There are countless movies that will never be in it because someone else has the rights!

Why is it too soon to get a refined, quality home release with extra bonus features?? There’d be no reason to have to spend extra money on enhanced versions if all boutique labels released them initially…
Criterion seems to have a deal with NEON, they've released a few of their movies right away.
Thought you wouldn't know from looking at online stores 😵💫
They earn the upcharge.

In the mood for love

4 of the last 5 Palm d'Or winners are in the Criterion collection. Portrait of a Lady on Fire "got in" the same year of release. It's not that serious! I promise!
Brams Stoker's Dracula, Pulp Fiction, and Armageddon were all released with a year of their theatrical runs.
Like, guys, just let it go

There's many classical from Wajda and Abuladze that I wish they could get ahold of, but to me, it's still they Premier label in the world
I know nothing about it.
I’ve been trying to treat it like old broadcast tv, if I catch 1/3rd of the way through I watch to the end and try and figure it out.
There are no ads/previews on the disc and the packaging is uncluttered. I really appreciate that.
It's like the old National Geographic Magazines...you never give 'em away!
Keep 'em for future generations. 😎
