My obligate carnivore eats potato chips, oat biscuits and a spicy garbanzo bean that fell out of my balela.
He also tried to climb the kitchen cabinets to get to my salad.
Otoh my new 7-year-old ladies pointedly eat NOTHING that isn't one of two cat foods I've discovered
I can leave my sandwich on the bed with them and come back and they haven't even budged
How the hell am I supposed to pill them when it becomes necessary?
... no, they don't like pill pockets either
Don't know if it's available everywhere but we can get lactose free cheese straws here & I think that solves the issue unless they have a problem with fat.
Many years ago, we had a cat (RIP) that loved to steal shredded lettuce off of tacos. The only lettuce he liked was from tacos, and the only taco ingredient he swiped was lettuce. In 16 years, we never figured out why.
I KNOW, RIGHT?! I hate broccoli, but she loooves it. She'll snatch bread out of your hand, tried to steal uncooked polenta off the counter this morning, and broke a ceramic butter dish to get at the butter. The only food she has turned her nose up at is plain oatmeal.
We had an elderly dog who needed to take pills & I'd give them to him in lactose free cream cheese, so when it was pill time I would say 'time for your cheese' & of course everyone would have to get some too. Dog has been gone for nearly 2 years now but the cats still Yell when every I say cheese.
Though the one who yells the most is the one who can't eat anything except one kind of dry food or he gets really ill so none of them get cheese any more.
I also had a cat that used to eat cornflakes & peanut shells though. Cats can be weird.
To be fair, we aren't obligate carnivores, but we also don't need cheese straws. So by that logic, if no one needs cheese straws, we all need cheese straws!
My neighbours are used to hearing cries of, "Obligate! Carnivore!" when I walk the cat and she tries to sneakily eat grass. She tends to boke it back up in the middle of the night.

Cat wants are Needs. Cats have a Need for some wish fulfillment.
Therefore Sergei Needs the cheese straws, because they taste good and he wants them.

(I had a rat who if left out while I was eating, would try trade his dry pasta for my cooked-pasta-with-sauce. So I can't tell animals nowt.)
(I know, digestively it's an issue, but I'm devil-advocating for them!)
...wait, if I confront Sergei with his cheese straw addiction, will he throw a knife at me....?
Cheese straws are a necessity.
I mean, he may not be able to *digest* it.

(Return, blade of grass is gone, Annie licking her chops)
YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE THAT'S BEEN!
