Obviously, as @propublica.org rightly points out, the strict anti-abortion laws in Texas have made doctors all the more hesitant to perform procedures that hasten the end of a pregnancy.

But it's crucial to note that restrictions existed before these laws, too

Yes ! Even in CA (!) we obgyns are accustomed to getting transfers from religious hospitals for these diagnoses forever.... Often in semi-unstable conditions. But in those states all hospitals are now -for all intents and purposes -practicing within the same dangerous standards of care

The people of Ireland rose up and overturned their abortion laws because of the death of ONE woman. Here’s the problem: the American people don’t care how many women die. They’ve made that very clear.
