There are a number of good progressive candidates running now, and we do have ranked-choice primaries, but we are going to have to consolidate behind one of them if we are to have any chance of averting another catastrophic mayoralty in NYC.

Just remember that your rankings are used as backup options. Your vote could count for your 5th choice, but *only* if your 1st-4th choice have already lost.

Ex: If you ranked:
#4 Garcia
#5 Adams

Then your vote did not help elect Adams, at all.

We really need more education about this. Right now there are enough folks in the race that I’m comfortable with as Mayor that I don’t need to make a shortlist, but I worry that having all these people in the race only ends up vote splitting among anti-Cuomo folks.

*over Kathryn Garcia, by barely 10,000 votes—she would’ve won with just the number of Wiley voters who didn’t bother ranking anyone after Wiley to try to stop Adams. Hopefully more experience with ranked choice helps folks learn that lesson.
