When my kid was in school & we were getting National Geographic, I remember an article about leg evolution, w/a theory that fish were in water/mud & needed legs to propel thru, possibly after an extinction event. That blew my mind. Total opposite of the idea of a fish just kinda walking onto land.

I grabbed the Swamp Thing Poison Ivy Special, at my local last week, because I've always thought a cross-over of those two characters would be intersting. And when I got it home, only then did I realize it was written by you. I have not cracked it open yet. But most likely one evening this week.

Wah. This is wild. Is this maybe why light skin is also a common trait in East Asia, where farming is also ancient and sunlight can be scarce, but it’s not in North America, where agriculture didn’t reach further north until all the big population expansions were done?

Have you read Rebecca Wragg Sykes' 'Kindred'? Best book I've read on Neanderthals, and makes extensive use of traditional printmaking for its illustrations too.
