I still remember listening as we drove from my great-uncle's house after celebrating, to my grandma's house to sleep under her tree, all three kids already in our jammies -- in the late 1960s.
Spent my entire Career with NORAD, Christmas was always special, I was filmed a few times for TV specials on Santa's tracking but the Job I really wanted was to man the phones for the kids calls. There were so many volunteers that I never got the opportunity. The people who did this had a lot of fun
OK, I can't confirm that the officer who picked up the first phone call the predecessor to NORAD received was a Canadian officer, so I assume I must be wrong about that, but somehow I thought it was a Canadian (who do also staff NORAD as well).
My Dad was the one on local radio (where ever we were stationed at the time) on Christmas Eve telling everyone where Santa was. He was RADAR for RCAF. I miss you, Dad. You made my world wonderful….

I've always felt it was a mistake for a govt entity to pretend ... anything.
Lovely for children…thank you Philip.
Happy Holidays
Santa will be throwing feces at anyone who isn’t worth at least $20,000,000.
