Proposed new rule:

If you say something like "I support trans rights but can't we agree they've played an outsized role in Democratic politics?" you need to be prepared to offer a minimum of 3 examples of what exactly you mean by that.

Even if it were true they play an outsized role (and I don't believe they do) it would make sense because they have an outsized amount of political vitriol and proposed legislation against them, not to mention violence, discrimination and bigotry.

Culture wars are keys that first-class citizens dangle in front of second-class citizens. It's true that throughout the history of 🇺🇲 all first-class citizens have been white but not all white people are first-class citizens. Power comes from money, not race, and both should be shared equally.

Disagree strongly. Fascists are the way they are purely due to culture war issues. Conservatives will always doom themselves financially if it means brutalizing a minority they don’t like. This is human nature. Values/ethics always precede economics.

I suspect we’re on the same side here. My understanding of fascism is not letting pesky things like human rights and democratic norms get in the way of the acquisition of capital. We fight fascism through solidarity & mutual respect across cultural differences. Wouldn’t you agree?

The ideology is predicated on the establishment of heavily socially regimented society based on the belief in a natural/supernatural social hierarchy. It has nothing to do with economics. It is 100% a social ideology.

Trans rights have taken an “outsized role” in the Democratic platform bc Republicans have put an outsized focus on vilifying & stripping human rights away from that 2% (+\-) of our population. The affected people may be relatively few, but the response is proportional to the threat.

Here's the catch/22: The phrase "defund the police," while well meaning, ended up hurting us.

Our platform is good, our rhetoric and word choice is garbage.

We need to find a way to pitch our platform to middle America; we have to refine our messaging, not our message.
