Love seeing people still say "He can't just sign an executive order declaring he's a king because that's not how it works". Man how many times is this gonna happen until you believe it's happening?

These are the same people who would earnestly say “Biden can’t just sign an executive order (insert any bold political action the public demanded here)”
If there ever comes a time that Trump sics the army on US citizens en mass (as you seem to be implying), I highly doubt that a significant number of military officers and their men would not defect.
Until that day comes (if it does, I hope not) keep protesting and engage in civil disobedience.
Oh absolutely everyone should fight this as hard as they can but Kent state showed exactly how far the government was willing to go and that was a slightly more reasonable government
I have been calling my reps cowards for 2 weeks now. Asking them if they intend to uphold their oath to the Constitution and the US public or if they're just going to hand him their legislative power, and I guess that's what they're going to do. Spineless, treasonous lot.
Too many people think laws work like the rules of a video game when in reality they work like the rules of a board game. If I steal money and properties from the bank in monopoly, someone at the table needs to actually intervene to stop me otherwise the rules don't do anything
A good friend has characterized the Democrats for years as “playing Monopoly with the Republicans, who are making hard eye contact while taking money from the bank and putting hotels on properties they don’t own, while complaining they’re cheating and continuing to play by the rules”
I think it’s because they subconsciously never actually rid themselves of the cultural evangelical belief that god is constantly actively intervening to regulate the world. They think someone is keeping tabs and will balance the scales…without believing in any such being.
That and a worldview based on the assumption that civilization as it exists today emerged from millenia of the best minds competing to come up with the best ideas for running a society rather than everyone racing to design the optimal logistics for mass murdering their way into owning everything
State leg in OH has been ignoring state Supreme Court rulings on school funding for nearly 30 years. Same for gerrymandering. Once they achieve a power/goal they never give it up voluntarily. The court fiasco is just so everyone has time to get tired/distracted enough to accept the force-feeding.
Interesting to see how he hasn't even required that because the other two branches of government don't seem the least bit interested in stopping him. But yeah, have fun being "technically correct" about the rules. That's much better than being dead wrong about reality.
what you are learning with this line of questioning is that the law isn't what you make it up in your head to be, it is decided by what HAPPENS not by what's SAID. the US legal system works off precident, not intent. what you are doing is the democrat equivalent of sovereign citizen bullshit.
Well put. What matters is what happens, not what's said. So let's, as a country, make sure that as little as possible of what he says happens. Or at least happens the way he wants it.
Lol that's exactly what the op was talking about. he's doing it. there is no "as a country" because 1/3 of the country wants it, 1/3 refused to do anything about it, and the last 1/3 has no power.
you're so concerned about the letter of the law you ignore the spirit of it. "when he decided everyone was female did it happen?!" no, fucking of course not. instead the thing he wanted to happen happened - he marginalized trans people further and stripped us of the right to self identify
lol the spirit of the law is that precedent supercedes personal ick.
Trump's eo didn't "make everyone a woman" and anyone who thinks it did is an idiot. what it did was strip trans people of their rights. that actually happened. your rulebook is useless when you're the only one who follows it
They worked amazingly well at denying people things like Healthcare. But they seem to be flawed when stopping wealthy white men from declaring absolute power. Curious.
Just the boot licking bullshit of believing that the wealthiest people who got that way by being sociopathic narcissists are "the good guys" and that people who actually earned and deserve their money are "moochers"
What the fuck do folks see in assholes like Musk? They deserve jail time not praise
"once these lawsuits make it to scotus..."
or
"well i think in the midterms..."
or
"senate republicans won't allow..."
or

“In order for nonviolence to work, your opponent must have a conscience. The United States has none.” —Stokely Carmichael
If we stop acknowledging his power, everything stays exactly identical. Acknowledgment isn’t action.
We have to /take his power away/, a completely different thing, which will require physical violence.
It’s childish.
He can order men with guns to try to enforce these orders, and they might even obey him, but the orders themselves are meaningless.

Turns out the whole system of checks and balances thing was made up bullshit that when it's most needed never actually existed
